This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
One of the most common ways for bloggers to make money is through sponsored posts. Today I’m sharing my favorite new iPhone app for bidding on sponsored posts, as well as how to write a winning sponsored post pitch in only two sentences!
Some paid post offers will come through a direct email from a brand or PR representative, but you can find a lot of awesome opportunities through what are known as influencer networks.
Many of these influencer networks allow you to bid on sponsored opportunities that you’d like to work on. My favorite of these such networks is IZEA, because they make the bidding process simple and fast, and the new IZEA iOS app gives you the freedom to do so even when you can’t get to your computer!
The app dashboard allows you to check for new opportunities as well as keep track of the status of current bids and projects in-progress — all from your iPhone. You can even cash-out money earned! (The best part, right?)
I’m SO excited about the new IZEA iOS app, because you can bid and negotiate paid blog and social media posts from your iPhone — anywhere! Sometimes I’ll ask my husband to drive when we run errands so I can get a little work done on-the-go. Campaigns can have quick turn-around times, so the application window is short. Being able to apply as soon as an opportunity is posted is a definite advantage!
Since IZEA has a 300-word limit on your bids, essentially, you have two sentences to make sponsors want to choose YOU for their campaign!
In the first sentence of your pitch, state WHY this would be the perfect fit for your blog. Is it a topic you cover frequently? Is it a product you use daily in your real life? Is it an issue you’re passionate about? Is this something that your audience loves? Have you written a previous blog post about something similar that brought a ton of traffic? Let ’em know!
Your second sentence should cover your idea for an awesome blog post. The key is to get their interest, without giving it all away. Make them want to hire you so they can read your finished post and see what you create! For example, if you have a killer recipe idea to showcase a product, you might tell them the drool-worthy name of your dish, but not list every single ingredient.
Though the application process may vary across different platforms, following the two-sentence strategy is an excellent starting point for any pitch. You want to clearly communicate your ideas and your awesomeness in the most concise way possible. Decisions are often made within the first couple sentences read, so you have to make them count!
If you haven’t joined IZEA yet, what are you waiting for?! If you’re already signed up and have an iPhone, make sure to download the awesome brand-new IZEA iOS app so you can apply for (and land!) sponsored posts anytime, anywhere!
