Today I’m going to get a little personal, but all in good fun! I was invited by e.p.t® to share my “moment of truth,” my story about how I found out I was pregnant. But first I have a question: do you believe it’s possible that dreams tell you if you’re pregnant?
Let me explain…
Almost three years ago, my close friend approached me at work and told me about these crazy dreams she had been having for the previous few days. She described seeing a female holding a puppy in each of these vivid dreams.
To me, this wouldn’t seem like a big deal. However, my friend grew up in a different country, and in her culture, these specific images signify that a person very near to her is pregnant.
“I think it is you, Stacey,” she said excitedly. “Are you?”
I wasn’t, as far as I knew. I couldn’t say that it was completely impossible, as my husband and I were open to it, but I wasn’t “late” and was fairly certain that I was not pregnant at the time.
I laughed it off and went through the rest of my day. However, on the drive home, my curiosity got the best of me and I popped into a grocery store to pick up a pregnancy test.
It’s often suggested to wait until first thing in the morning to test, but I was too impatient so I took one right away.
As soon as the results were in, I called my husband and blurted out the exciting news and the unbelievable way I found out that we were expecting.
Even though we didn’t tell most people until a bit later, I called my friend that same night. She was ecstatic that her prediction was correct, though it actually wasn’t a surprise to her…she truly believed in her dreams!
Perhaps my friend just got lucky, or perhaps she is onto something! Who knows, but sure it makes an excellent story!
Really, the only proven way to know if you’re pregnant is to take a pregnancy test, whether at your doctor or at home. It’s fun to speculate if dreams tell you if you’re pregnant, but if you want to know for sure, you’ve got to take a test! But who really wants to wait until a doctor’s appointment to find out?
e.p.t® invented home pregnancy tests, and they are 99% accurate from the day of your expected period. In a recent survey by e.p.t., over 80% of women asked first learned they were pregnant from a home pregnancy test.
What else the women surveyed had to say about their moment of truth:
