Our family tries to live as eco-friendly as possible, so when our youngest was born two years ago, I looked into organic diapers. At the time, I didn’t find a cost-effective option that performed well.
However, I was recently invited to try out Simple Truth eco-friendly diapers, available at Kroger. I already use and love quite a few other Simple Truth products, so I was definitely game to try them and see if they were worth making a switch.
When researching organic diapers, there were two main factors that I considered:
- Price vs. regular name brand diapers
- Performance
Are organic diapers more expensive than regular name brand diapers?
The answer was VERY pleasantly surprising: Simple Truth diapers are comparable or actually LESS expensive than many name brands. I’m not even talking about other organic diapers, I’m referring to your standard big name disposable diapers.
By the numbers: The Simple Truth 23-count pack worked out to 35¢ per diaper, while the brand I previously purchased came to 47¢ a diaper for the same size package. That is a substantial difference and busts the myth that organic diapers have to cost more than non-organic.
Do organic diapers perform as well as “regular” diapers?
I had tried another brand of eco-friendly diaper a while back, and was not impressed with the results. My baby wet right through them every single night, and sometimes even during her nap! I had assumed that this would be the case with all organic diapers, but I was wrong again.
But don’t just take my word for it — if you search for reviews on Simple Truth diapers, you’ll find that there are quite a few parents out there who swear by them.
When it comes to diapers, why does buying organic matter anyway?
- They are hypoallergenic and incredibly gentle on baby skin. Simple Truth diapers are chlorine free, latex free, fragrance free, and lotion free, so they don’t contain many of the potential irritants you might find in other diapers.
- Made with renewable, plant-based resources, Simple Truth diapers have a lower environmental impact than regular disposable diapers. Since we go through so many in our baby’s first few years of life, it is nice to know that we are doing what we can to put less stress on our planet!
If you’ve been thinking about going “green” with your diapers, but were worried about cost and/or effectiveness, I’d encourage you to try Simple Truth.
Simple Truth makes it easy and affordable to incorporate quality organic products into your life!
