Do you go crazy for Halloween like me?
It seems like such a long stretch between Easter decorations and Halloween festivities (my two favorite holidays for decorating). As soon as Halloween starts creeping towards us on the calendar after the summer lull, I start getting excited!
This year, my family and I are decorating our house with a Haunted Mansion theme. We also made this Haunted Mansion DIY Mickey Wreath that turned out amazing!
I love these DIY Halloween Potion Bottles with free printable labels because they suit so many Halloween themes: witches, mad scientist, etc. They will easily incorporate into your own Halloween decor!
These eye-catching bottles would look cute on the main food table, or placed on a cocktail cart. We currently have them displayed on our living room mantle, but they are easy enough to move around if needed.
How to Make DIY Halloween Potion Bottles
You will need:
- Glass apothecary bottles or plastic bottles
- Glass paint (we used purple)
- Free Printable Bottle Labels (plus paper)
- Coffee grinds
- Mod Podge or Spray Adhesive
STEP ONE: Paint the bottles to match the color scheme of your party or decor theme.
STEP TWO: While the bottles are drying, print off the free printable bottle labels and cut them out along the lines.
STEP THREE: To age the paper using coffee grinds, smudge or paint the grinds over the paper and then rub them off once the desired color and effect has been reached. Dry completely.
Note: I experimented with brown paper and white paper dyed with coffee grinds. While I like both effects, I think printing on white paper and then aging it using the coffee grinds is my favorite (and white printer paper is more likely already in your home than the brown paper).
STEP FIVE: Smooth the labels onto the bottles and allow to set before adding to your apothecary display.
Tip: You can also use these labels on drink cups or bottles of soda or beer and wine! Age and attach them using the same methods described above.
Do you throw Halloween parties or decorate your house in a Halloween theme? How will you use these apothecary labels in your Halloween plans?
