Rainy days can be a challenge to keep your kids from bouncing off the walls. However, using some adorable and interactive new toys from Just Play, I came up with a few Sofia the First games to have ready to go when the weather keeps us stuck indoors.
Sofia the First is a TV show on Disney Junior about a little girl whose ordinary life is made extraordinary when she becomes a princess. It is one of my daughters’ favorite shows — I love it because it has a positive message and it is something that the two of them can enjoy together despite a five-year age gap. Our new Target finds allow us to have even more Sofia the First fun!
These Sofia the First games get your kids moving, thinking, and imagining! They’re perfect for a rainy day at home with the family, but they also would make wonderful Sofia the First birthday party activities.
Here are three of our favorite Sofia the First Games:
Sofia the First Scavenger Hunt
My husband actually came up with this idea (awesome job Dad!) To play this game we used the Sofia the First Royal Friends Figure Set, note cards, and a marker.
I started by hiding the five figurines throughout the living room and dining room. With each little figure I placed a note card with a poem that provided a clue to where the next figure could be found.
My oldest daughter Lilu had a blast searching for them while her little sister tagged along. Lilu delighted in reading the poems out loud and speculating where the figurines were hiding. When she had solved the riddles, her face lit up and she sprinted to the hiding spot to find the next clue.
Lilu got so excited and her creativity was off the charts — she found all five figures within twenty minutes! I was really impressed with her problem solving abilities and I’ll have to make the clues trickier next time! Even though she had finished the scavenger hunt sooner than I expected, Lilu was entertained for a good hour afterwards playing in an imaginary world with her Sofia and her friends.
Sofia the First Color Match Game
This game is geared more towards a toddler or pre-schooler. The Sofia the First Royal Friends Figures are brightly colored, so they lend themselves well to a color matching game. Ask your child to take one of the figures, identify what color it is, and place it next to something in the room that is the same color. You could also flip things around and ask your child to pick the figure that best matches an item that you show them.
Sofia the First Dance Party
When I saw the Sofia the First Musical Light-Up Amulet, I knew that I would have to get one for each of my daughters. Good thing they are very reasonably priced! As I guessed, both girls LOVED their shiny purple amulet, which also lights up and sings. Both with and without prompting, there have already been quite a few dance parties with my little princesses twirling about the house.
