Inspired by the classic Chick-Fil-A cole slaw recipe, this from-scratch copycat recipe has only 6 simple ingredients.

Chick-Fil-A had some of the best coleslaw out there, and it is surprisingly easy to recreate at home โ€” which you have to do because it’s no longer available to order at the fast food chain!

Why Did Chick-Fil-A Stop Selling Cole Slaw?

There was a bit of an uproar a few years ago when Chick-Fil-A took cole slaw off the menu and added the Superfood Kale Salad in its place.

Fans of the restaurant chain couldn’t understand why they’d get rid of the popular cole slaw side dish. Now, I’ve got to admit that the kale salad is pretty tasty, but I can see why people are missing cole slaw. It’s a classic southern side dish!

David Farmer, senior vice president of menu development at Chick-Fil-A explained that, “it just wasn’t feasible to keep adding to the menu without taking anything away.” Some fans called for a boycott, but the cole slaw has never been added back to the menu.

That’s ok though, because we’ll show you how to make a homemade coleslaw that tastes just like Chick-Fil-A’s recipe!

It’s easy and made with simple, real food ingredients. And it’s downright delicious!

How to Make Chick-Fil-A Coleslaw

Place your shredded cabbage (or cole slaw mix) in a large mixing bowl.

In a separate small mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, dry mustard, and salt.

Pour the dressing on top of your cabbage and toss until everything is evenly coated. I usually don’t add all the dressing at once, pouring and mixing until I have the consistency I like.

How Long Does Coleslaw Last?

Cole slaw should always be refrigerated โ€” do not leave out on the party table for more than an hour or two.

I kind of think that coleslaw tastes even better the next day, after all the flavors have had time to meld. You’ll only want to keep it for 3-5 days max (refrigerated, of course).
