Christmas Wreath Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are perfect for serving at parties or great for an appetizer-style Christmas Eve meal. These festive deviled eggs are decorated like little wreaths for a fun and festive holiday dish whenever you need it.
The deviled egg plate is always the first to get hit at Christmas parties in our family. We LOVE deviled eggs!!
So why not turned deviled eggs into the ultimate holiday appetizer?!
These Christmas deviled eggs are super easy to make, with just a handful of simple ingredients. You might already have most of these items in your fridge and pantry!
We made our deviled egg filling green and added a touch of red to make it look a bit like a Christmas wreath. In any case, it is the perfect red and green holiday appetizer that you can whip up in less than 30 minutes (and part of that prep time is simply waiting for the eggs to cook and cool!)
Bonus – If you’re counting carbs, each deviled egg has less than 1g total carbohydrates. So this is actually a keto-friendly appetizer too!

Helpful Kitchen Tools

- Scoop out the egg yolks into a mixing bowl along with theย mayonnaise, mustard, and salt and pepper to yolks. Mix everything together until well incorporated.
- Add a few drops of green food coloring. Whip the egg mixture with a fork until there are no more lumps, and it is a rich green color. Scoop into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe the green egg yolk mixture in small circles in the middle of each of your egg white halves. Top with three red pepper pieces to form the bow of your wreath.
Prep Tips
- Preparation – While a piping bag is not absolutely necessary, it does create a fluffy texture that kind of looks like pine boughs. You could also scoop the deviled egg filling with a spoon in a pinch.
- Flavor – Feel free to use your favorite kind of mustard for this recipe, to add a unique flavor! Dijon mustard, spicy brown mustard, and regular yellow mustard can all work!
- Garnish – If you don’t have red pepper handy (or don’t care for peppers) you could also use a sprinkle of fresh dill or rosemary on top. This would also make the deviled eggs look like the piney texture of a wreath. Another alternative is to use pomegranate seeds in place of the peppers, as a pomegranate seed looks a lot like a holly berry.
- Eggs – We actually don’t boil our eggs, but instead we steam them! Either way will work of course, but steaming seems to make them much easier to peel. Learn how to steam hard boiled eggs with our easy method here!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Make Deviled Eggs Ahead Of Time?
Deviled eggs can stay good in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, so they are the perfect easy appetizer to make in advance and save time on the day of your holiday party.
Because we used green food coloring, there is a possibility that some of that coloring could make its way into the egg whites the longer they sit. If you’re planning to make this dish more than a day in advance, I recommend storing the filling separately from the egg whites and filling them when you’re ready to serve.
Another make-ahead trick is to have the boiled eggs pepped and ready to go, as this is what takes the most time. The rest of the recipe is very fast!
What Can I Use Instead Of Green Food Coloring?
Green food coloring is an easy way to give your Christmas deviled eggs that festive Christmas tree green look. However, if you’re looking for a dye-free alternative, you can use avocados! To do so, scoop out the flesh of a ripe avocado and mix into your deviled egg filling until you have your desired shade of green. Keep in mind that food coloring will provide the vibrant green color shown in the photos here, while avocados will be subtler looking.
