Frozen Strawberry Margaritas
Sweet strawberries, tart lime juice, and smooth tequila are blended with ice to make the ultimate refreshing frozen strawberry margaritas.
Strawberry Margaritas
It’s strawberry season and the perfect time for a brand new margarita recipe! I’ve always loved tequila and a classic margarita recipe, but sometimes it’s fun to switch things up. I’ve got a patch of fresh strawberries growing in my garden and oh my gosh…they taste just like candy!
While I don’t have enough berries to make a batch of margaritas yet, it did inspire me to share this strawberry margarita recipe.
These frozen strawberry margaritas are the perfect way to chill out on a hot day! Made with real strawberries, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and ice — blended until smooth and frosty. The combination of sweet strawberries and tart lime juice is just the thing for summer days or a Cinco de Mayo party.
So gather your friends, get your blender ready, and make this refreshing, fruity cocktail pronto!

Prep Tips
- Consistency: If the margaritas seem too liquid-y, add another cup of ice cubes and blend. If they seem too thick or icy, you can add more of the liquid ingredients and blend until you have your desired consistency.
- Variations: You can also try adding other types of fruit to the mix to switch up the flavors of this drink. Try these combinations: strawberry mango, strawberry peach, or strawberry pineapple…yum!!
- Instead of Tequila: This recipe would work well with other types of alcohol too, such as rum or vodka.
- Substitutions: Don’t have limeade concentrate in the freezer? You can use fresh lime juice instead!ย If you don’t have triple sec on hand, feel free to substitute with another type of orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
- Flavor Boost: For extra strawberry flavor, you can swap strawberry margarita mix for the lime juice concentrate. You’ll still get that lime flavor, plus a stronger strawberry taste!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Use Fresh Strawberries?
We used frozen strawberries for this recipe because you can use less ice and get more flavor in the drink. It’s also easy to keep a bag of frozen strawberries in the freezer so they are ready any time, instead of worrying about fresh berries going bad.
However, you can absolutely use fresh strawberries if you have them on hand! You may need to add a bit more ice, so taste and adjust as you blend the margaritas.
What Is The Best Kind Of Tequila To Use?
For this recipe you can really use any type of tequila that you like. Both gold and silver tequila (tequila blanco) will work just fine. While I don’t recommend using the cheapest tequila, you don’t need to use the most expensive reposado tequila either, since you’ll be blending it with other ingredients. So the best tequila for this margarita recipe is YOUR favorite tequila!
Can You Make This Recipe “On The Rocks?”
Yes, you can switch things up if you want to make this on the rocks (over ice) instead of blended. If making on the rocks, you’ll definitely want to use strawberry margarita mix instead of the limeade concentrate.
Try this:
- 1 cup tequila
- 1/2 cup triple sec
- 1 cup strawberry margarita mix
- 1/4 cup agave or simple syrup
Stir everything together in a large pitcher and pour into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
