Hocus Pocus Breakfast Charcuterie Board

Last year I saw some amazing Hocus Pocus charcuterie boards, using meat and cheeses to look like the famous Sanderson Sisters. I thought it was such a fun idea that I wanted to make my own Hocus Pocus appetizer for those of us with a sweet tooth!

This Hocus Pocus charcuterie board would be perfect for breakfast or brunch parties because it features pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, cinnamon rolls, and other breakfast foods.

However, it doesn’t have to be just for breakfast! This would be so much fun to serve at a Halloween party, no matter what time of day, or a Hocus Pocus movie watch party! My family and I love to watch the original Hocus Pocus movie and Hocus Pocus 2 – which came out last year. I also heard that there’s going to be a Hocus Pocus 3, so I’m really excited about that! I hope they keep the original Hocus Pocus cast! It just wouldn’t be the same without the iconic Sanderson Sisters…

…and as you can see, the three witches are the not only the stars of the movies, but they are the stars of our Hocus Pocus snack board too!

Ingredients

Here’s what we included on our Hocus Pocus charcuterie board:

  • Spiderweb waffles
  • Skull waffles
  • Mummy granola bars
  • Spiderweb mini chocolate donuts
  • Ghost muffins
  • Mini pancakes decorated to look like the Sanderson Sisters
  • Orange “pumpkins”
  • Eyeball cinnamon rolls

How To Make A Hocus Pocus Charcuterie Board

The first step in building your charcuterie board is to create the centerpiece. For this Hocus Pocus breakfast board, our centerpiece are the Sanderson Sisters…made out of pancakes!

How to Make the Sanderson Sisters:

We made three stacks of mini pancakes. Each stack makes the face of one of the sisters. We used vanilla frosting between each pancake to hold them together, as well as a layer of frosting on top of each stack to look more like skin color.

Once the frosting is dry, you can use an edible marker to draw on the eyes. You could also use decorating icing or black candy melts and pipe on the eyes.

The last step for making the Sanderson sisters is their distinctive hair. For Sarah Sanderson, we used whipped butter to make the hair (we added a couple drops of yellow food coloring to make it look blonder). This frosting is perfect for dipping the rest of the goodies on our board! For Winifred Sanderson’s hair, we made a pile of bright red raspberries. For Mary Sanderson’s hair, we used blackberries.

How to Build the Rest of the Board:

Creating and decorating the rest of your Hocus Pocus breakfast board will be so much fun! You can totally use the same foods that we did, or add some of your own. I’ll link to the products we used in case you want to use them on your board too.

To Make the Spiderweb and Skull Waffles:

To make these mini waffles shaped like skulls and spiderwebs, we used these waffle makers:

To make the waffle batter, we simply mixed up a big batch of pancake mix, such as Bisquick. We divided the batter into 3 bowls and added a couple drops of food coloring to each bowl, so we ended up with a bowl of purple batter, a bowl or orange batter, and a bowl of green batter. I recommend using neon gel food coloring for vibrant colors.

More Hocus Pocus Inspired Foods:

To fill up our board, we used pre-made snacks:

  • Mini chocolate donuts
  • Mini dark chocolate muffins
  • Granola bars
  • Mini cinnamon rolls

Then we used decorating icing and different sizes of candy eyeballs to decorate these snacks. For example, we used cookie icing to draw spiderwebs on top of the donuts.
