I was recently invited to review the first two titles in the new children’s book series “Little Adventures” by Amberjack Publishing. The whole family was excited to participate, as Bedtime Story is a treasured part of our nighttime routine!
I had barely gotten the books out of their package before Lilu had her nose buried in them! She read each book cover to cover multiple times before I had to pull her away for dinner.
The books we received are Mana’kai Dreams of Hawai’i and Talon Wrestles an Anaconda
by author “Auntie M.” (Also known as McArthur Krishna).
These are well-made hardcover books with endearing stories (Wiggly Baby Mana’kai bumping into his crib reminded me instantly of my Annabelle!) The illustrations, however, almost steal the show– they are vividly patterned and colorful– stunning!
Lilu is almost seven and getting into chapter books, but these were still very appropriate. The themes and vocabulary tend to be on the advanced side for beginning readers, so they are a good fit for a child like Lilu who is an avid book devourer. The pictures are lively and would definitely keep a younger child engaged if they were being read to by an adult.
If you’re looking for stories that aim to educate and expose children to new ideas, people, and places, then the Little Adventures series is worth checking out. I definitely was happy to find an alternative to the usual “how to be a princess” stories that are marketed to little girls! I’d say these were a hit:

Happy Reading!
