Usually when the kids are quiet, it means they are up to something, but sometimes you get a pleasant surprise instead. The other day Lilu disappeared into her room with pipe cleaners, paper, and glue. When she reemerged a while later, she had created a colorful “magic fairy wand.”
I was so impressed with her creativity that I wanted to share her beautiful, yet simple kid’s craft. (And I wanted to make a fairy wand of my own!)
Here’s how you make Magic Fairy Wands:
Start with a handful of pipe cleaners (5-10) and twist them until they are bound together. I also folded the pointy end of the pipe cleaners to form a loop (for aesthetics and safety reasons).
Next, cut a star out of construction paper and glue to the pipe cleaners. As we were making our fairy wands, Lilu and I talked about ideas to jazzing them up: ribbons, glitter, etc. There are so many possibilities!
Both girls thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating their “spell-casting” techniques with their new fairy wands! Though I wouldn’t leave Annabelle alone with the wand as she still likes to “taste-test” everything if she can get away with it! 🙂
