Monster Sensory Bottle
Our first attempt at a sensory bottle (of any type) was our Creepy-Crawly Halloween Sensory Bottle with orange-yellow ombre liquid and spooky plastic spiders.
Halloween is one of my favorite occasions, so this time we’re sharing a new, slightly less spooky Halloween sensory bottle. This one might be more appealing to anyone who is not a big fan of spiders. (Even the fake plastic ones kind of give me the willies!)
Our Monster Sensory Bottle is bursting with glitter and googly monster eyeballs. It kind of reminds me of some of the characters in Monsters University!

What is a Sensory Bottle?
My friend Nell, who blogs at Rhythms of Play, is known for her amazing collection of sensory bottle ideas and tutorials. She explains that sensory bottles are a “calming tool for anxious children with sensory needs and sensitivities, and kids that need help with self-regulation skills.” (See more of Nell’s sensory bottle tips here!)
Sensory bottles can be useful for all kids (and adults too!) Here are just a few of the ways to use sensory bottles:

- Holiday or themed activity
I have to admit, there is something so soothing about watching a sensory bottle in action — with glitter swirling. Even as a grown-up, I find them to be a relaxing experience!
Plus, they are super easy to make and require only basic crafting supplies!

- plastic water bottle with lid
- hot glue & glue gun
- water
- baby oil
- colored glitter
- plastic googly eyes (assorted sizes)
How to Make a Halloween Monster Eyes Sensory Bottle

Before you begin, remove the label from your water bottle. You’ll also want to thoroughly wash and dry the bottle and lid to remove any dirt, residue, etc.
Once your bottle is ready to go, fill it halfway with room temperature water.
Add a couple spoonfuls of colorful glitter. Green is my favorite color, but feel free to use your favorite color!
Add in the plastic googly eyes. You can again add as little or as much as you wish. We used eyes in various sizes, and added in about a tablespoon full.
Fill up the rest of the bottle with baby oil, all the way to the very top.
TIP: You may need to let things settle so air bubbles can rise to the top, add a little more oil, let bubbles rise, and so on, until your bottle is completely full. The less air, the better.
Place the lid securely on your bottle and give it a test run. You may decide that you want to add a bit more glitter, eyeballs, or both!
Once your Monster Eye Sensory Bottle is just the way you want it, place hot glue around the mouth of the bottle and screw the cap in place. Make sure the lid is tight and give the glue at least 10-15 minutes to dry.
