Why it’s ok to be a REAL Mom

Motherhood

I’m excited to partner with Pfizer Consumer Healthcare on this post to get real and share my “mom confession.”

These days, we moms are under a lot of pressure to be the “perfect mom.”  While I think we are all a perfect mom to our kids, I’m referring to the “perfect mom” image that we are constantly bombarded with on social media.

These days we moms are under a lot of pressure to be the "perfect mom." Why it's a GOOD thing to be a REAL mom and show the less than perfect stuff!

Understandably, we all want to share our best moments for family and friends to see online. It might take 100 shots to get a single usable family photo, but rarely do we see those other 99! If we just go by what we see on social media, it looks like everyone out there is living it up (and don’t even get me started on photo filters and retouching)!

Even though we know that we’re not getting the whole story, it can be tough not to compare ourselves to these ideal images. It is also tempting to only show our own “best” moments (I’ll admit that I’m guilty of it sometimes, too).

But mama, you don’t have to be perfect all the time! Trying to be perfect is exhausting, and frankly, it gets boring to see only the “good” photos and hear the safe stories. Let’s get real!

I’m not saying you have to disclose anything too personal, but every now and then, we’d love the privilege of getting to see the real you! It’s refreshing to know that you go through the same things that we do, from diaper blowouts to bad hair days.

Today I want to encourage you to get real and share a moment that you might not normally share. I’ll start with my own “mom confession,” which you can check out in the video posted below:

Now it’s your turn! Fill out the giveaway form below, then share you own parenting confession on social media. Include the hashtag #SickJustGotReal, and you could win a prize package of three Children’s Advil® products.
