Are you a part of the Republic of Change?

Holiday Fun for Families

Our world might be a vast and diverse place, but one thing that affects all of us is climate change. So when I was approached to help spread the word about the Republic of Change campaign, I was happy to lend my voice!

Republic of Change climate change movement
The goal of the Republic of Change is simple: offset CO2 emissions by planting trees. Every dollar contributed equals one tree planted. It’s such an easy, measurable way to make a real difference. The Republic of Change was founded by an ex-oilman and an environmental chemist, who came together with the common mission to use their talents and knowledge to make a positive impact.

So why trees?

According to the Republic of Change Indiegogo page, “the UN, NASA, NOAA, and IPCC agree that trees are the most reliable technology we have available right now to sequester CO2 and curb climate change.”

As I’m writing this, the Republic of Change movement is almost halfway funded. Their initial goal is $100,000 to plant 100,000 trees — you can help for as little as $1 (hey, it gets a tree planted!) Larger contributions come with extra perks, like a limited edition T-shirt (starting at $30) and these innovative plantable holiday greeting cards (starting at $75):

Republic of Change Holiday Cards

These cards are embedded with vegetable and herb seeds, so when you send a card to friends and family, you’re actually sending them a little garden. How cool is that?? Each card also comes with a message letting the recipient know that a tree has been planted in their name.

The trees that are being planted in the initial run are mangrove trees in Madagascar, which actually absorb up to 400% more CO2 than deciduous trees.
