Tracing Letters with Slime (VIDEO)
Learning the alphabet has never been so much fun! Kids will love tracing letters with SLIME!
Writing Letters with Slime
We love slime as a sensory play activity! Both of my daughters can spend hours playing with soothing play dough or stretchy slime, just for fun.
But you can also use slime to enrich home learning activities!
My youngest daughter is three years old, and will start Pre-K in the fall. In the meantime, we’ve been working on letter recognition and beginning writing skills at home.
Since she loves slime, I decided to incorporate it into a tracing letters activity (did you know you can write on slime?)
We used a basic white glue slime as our “paper” and kids markers to write with.

How to Practice Tracing Letters with Slime
Watch a quick demo video to see how it’s done, then keep reading for photo step-by-step instructions:
Start by mixing up a batch of simple liquid starch slime. Click here for the recipe.
TIP: If slime sticks to hands, add more liquid starch a Tablespoon at a time until slime is no longer sticky.
Place a handful of slime on paper plate and spread with hands until smooth.
Since my daughter is three years old and just starting on writing practice, I dotted out letters on the slime first to provide a template. Then my daughter could connect the dots.
Older kids can write on blank slime simply looking at the letter flash cards as an example.
When it’s time to write the next letter(s), simply fold up the slime to erase, then spread it back out on the paper plate.
The more you write, your slime will take on a pastel tie-dye hue, but you can still spend lots of time writing letters!
