Ingredients

Jar Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup peppermint candies

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 Tablespoons butter melted

Instructions

To Assemble Your Jars

  1. To make your gift jars, layer all ingredients listed under "jar ingredients" in order. 

  2. Seal jars and decorate with ribbons, bows, etc.

To Make Your Pancakes

  1. Before preparing pancakes, remove the peppermint candies from the jar and set aside.

  2. Empty remaining mason jar contents into a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add wet ingredients (listed above under "additional ingredients") to bowl of dry ingredients.

  4. Whisk together until combined, but don't over-stir. It's ok to have a few small lumps.

  5. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add 1-2 Tablespoons butter to pan.

  6. Once the butter is melted, add a 1/2 cup of the pancake batter to the pan and cook for 2 minutes, until the surface is covered in air bubbles, then flip and cook on the other side.

  7. Repeat with remaining batter.
