Addictively Spicy MaPo Tofu

One bite and you’ll be hooked on this spicy Schezwan MaPo Tofu!

This MaPo Tofu recipe is the perfect way to spice up your dinner routine!

INGREDIENTS

– firm tofu  – onions diced – mushrooms sliced – green onions chopped – garlic minced – mirin

Add diced onions to a large sauté pan with 2 TB oil and sauté on medium heat until onions start to brown.

Add mushrooms, Doubanjiang (spicy fermented bean paste) and stir until well combined. Add chili oil, ginger, soy sauce, garlic, 5-spice, sugar, and mirin. Stir.

Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes and lay on top of the ingredients in sauté pan. Add 1 1/2 cup hot water and gently stir.

Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes or until tofu is tender. Garnish with green onions and serve over jasmine rice.
