A Printable Indoor Scavenger Hunt that will keep your kids entertained and having fun while they’re stuck inside.

Indoor Scavenger Hunt for Kids

Your kids are stuck inside, so you are probably starting to search for ways to keep them entertained!

As a parent, I’m always looking for a fun way to keep my kids entertained – and if they’re free, it’s like icing on the cake! Using items that you have at home, you can make a fun indoor scavenger hunt for your kids no matter how old they are!

This indoor scavenger hunt for kids is a great activity to do with them on rainy days or when they are stuck inside. It’s a great way to get your kids up and moving too. Your kids will love using their problem-solving skills to find these objects around the home. Plus, you can get dinner in the oven or get something else done while they’re hunting!

This scavenger hunt is also a great way to take a break from their busy schoolwork and homework schedule. Plus, it’s a fun activity that doesn’t involve a screen!

This particular scavenger hunt is best suited for elementary-aged kids, but there are a bunch of different ways you could adapt this scavenger hunt to make it work for any child.

How to Set Up a Scavenger Hunt

Setting up a scavenger hunt can be as complicated or as easy as you make it! To set up your scavenger hunt, you will need to make a list of items for your kids to find.

If you want the scavenger hunt to be quick, you can have them search for just a few items. If you have toddlers or younger kids, you can have them search for something in plain sight or by color instead.

If you want something quick and easy, I’ve put together a FREE indoor scavenger hunt for kids you can grab here.

What Skills Can Kids Learn From a Scavenger Hunt?

Teaching your kids through games and fun is one of the best ways that your children can learn some much-needed life skills. Here are just a few of the many skills scavenger hunts help build:

  • Problem Solving Skills: Scavenger hunts challenge your kids to use problem-solving skills to find the items on the list. It also encourages them to act out the problem-solving skills they were taught.
  • Fitness and Exercise: Your scavenger hunt can help get the kids up and moving instead of sitting in front of the TV all day!
  • Teamwork: If you have your kids work together on the scavenger hunt, they can practice teamwork by working together to find the items on your list.

What Ages Should Do this Scavenger Hunt?

This particular scavenger hunt would work best for elementary-aged kids.

However, you can easily make a few small changes that could make it work for older or younger kids! For  example, if your children are still learning to read, you could read them off the list of items and have them do the searching.

What Happens If I Don’t Have Something on The List?

If you don’t have something on the list, do not stress! You can easily substitute any of these items with something else from around your home!

This scavenger hunt doesn’t require you to buy any additional items! If you don’t have something on the list such as paint, or you don’t want your kids to get your car keys, have them hunt for their favorite toy or even a specific colored sock.
