Mom’s Monkey Bread Recipe

One of my favorite childhood treats was my mom’s monkey bread. Every so often, she’d bring us into the kitchen and let us help make this amazing, ooey-gooey, cinnamon-sugary dessert.

I still remember trying to cram as much sugar and butter as my mom would allow into that bowl.

I remember watching it spin in the microwave, the dough slowly expanding and the glorious smell taking over the kitchen.

The excruciating wait for it to cool enough to eat.

And then competing with my brother and sister for the “best” pieces — you know, the pieces that were drenched in butter and saturated with sugar. Yep, those were worth all the waiting and elbowing!

This monkey bread recipe reminds me of my mom’s monkey bread. We made our monkey bread in the microwave, but I’ve included directions to make it in the oven too — if you don’t mind waiting a little longer!
