5 Minute Makeup for Busy Moms
In my younger days, I would spend quite a bit of time in front of the mirror experimenting with and perfecting my makeup. Now that I’m a mom, who has time for that?! I need 5 minute makeup!
When I’m in a hurry, or if it’s one of those days where the kids need a little extra attention, makeup is often the first thing that I let go. Do any of these excuses sound familiar?
But it doesn’t have to be like that! We might be busy, but we still deserve to look and feel our best, and take care of our skin. A little bit of the right makeup can go a long way in hydrating, evening skin tone, hiding the “tired mom” under-eye circles, and even offering protection from the sun.
Applying makeup doesn’t need to take a long time! In fact, I’ve created a 5 minute makeup routine that is so easy, I no longer have a good excuse to skip it!
My 5 minute makeup routine
The key is finding products that do double and even triple duty, so you can maximize your time in front of the mirror. I am in love with bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. After washing my face, I apply all over as I would a moisturizer. Complexion Rescue hydrates, provides a touch of color and coverage, and protects my skin with SPF 30. It blends within seconds to perfectly match my skin tone, while hiding blemishes or some dark spots that didn’t go away from my pregnancy.
On really busy days, you could stop right there. That’s my 30 second makeup routine! But with just a few more minutes, you can have a totally polished look that will seem as if you spent twice as much time in front of the mirror!
Next, I apply a swipe of bareMinerals Bareskin Serum Concealer under my eyes, across my cheekbones, down the bridge on my nose, above each eyebrow, and on my chin and blend gently with my fingertips. This is my trick for “quick contouring” which is essentially making it look like you have perfect lighting on your face at all times. It’s almost like magic! Plus, this conceals my under eye circles from late nights of work and early mornings with the kids.
To add the “shadow” to balance out the highlights I made with concealer, I brush a bit of dark bronzer underneath my cheekbones. To find just the right area to apply, suck in your cheeks and brush under your cheekbones, starting at the bottom of your ear and moving down towards the corners of your mouth in one stroke, stopping about an inch away from your lips.
I finish the look with a dab of rosy blush on the apples of my cheeks, tidying my eyebrows with a quick brush, a coat of my favorite black mascara, and clear or lightly-tinted lip gloss. Voila!
