Back to School Hair Hacks for Girls

Parenting Tips

It’s always an adjustment to go from summer days of sleeping in to waking up bright and early again for school. Fortunately, with these simple hair hacks for girls, getting ready in the morning can be quick and easy. That leaves more time for sleep…right?!

These hair hacks for girls will make mornings a breeze! Includes video tutorial for 30-second hair styles that anyone can do!

Back to School Hair Hacks that Will Make Mornings a Breeze

Use a leave-in detangler before bed

Comb a leave-in detangler through damp hair before bed. This will keep tangles and matts from forming overnight. Do another quick spritz before brushing in the morning. We love the Suave Kids Hair Care Line because it is tear-free and smells delicious! Plus it won’t break the budget and one bottle goes a long way!

The right tools make all the difference

I’ll readily admit that I am not a master hair-stylist, and we don’t have time in the mornings for me to practice. However, sometimes the girls want to feel extra special. That’s why I am a huge fan of barrettes! They take just a second to clip in, and it also keeps hair out of the girls’ faces all day. You can use clips or barrettes for the simple hair tutorials featured below.

Bun forms, also known as “sock buns,” are a favorite of Jennifer, blogger at Sugar Spice & Glitter. They add instant volume and create a gorgeous undo in minutes. (Perfect for moms too!)

30-Second Hair Styles

Yes, you read that right! All you need is a barrette (see above) or hair clip and you’re in business! Here’s a quick video demo (full directions follow):

For the first look, begin with a middle or side part. Starting at the part, tuck and roll hair under itself towards back of the head as your hands move down the side of the face. Use a clip to secure behind ear.

For the second look, take a small 1/2″ section of hair from beside the face, level with eyes. Twist or braid, then use this strand to pull rest of hair away from face. Secure your twist or braid with a clip.

You could also create a matching twist on the other side of the face for whimsical “flower child” look!
