Inside: Get kids excited about books with a fun reading challenge and free printable reading chart! Sponsored by Literati Book Club.
There’s no doubt that reading is beneficial for kids. However, when competing with television, video games, and all the screens in our lives, how can we as parents keep our kids excited about reading?
You guys, I think I found the answer!!
Actually, it’s a combination of two things! Let me explain…
Reading Challenge for Kids
First, kids are competitive! So I created a printable reading chart for kids where they can keep track of how many books they read. Our goal is 50 books in a year, or about one new book a week.
To help us reach our goal, I teamed up with Literati Book Club. It’s a book subscription box for kids — and what kid doesn’t love to get surprises in the mail?!
But Literati is not just a “box of books” — it is an adventure, a learning experience, and a way for kids to broaden their horizons and travel the world — all from their favorite cozy reading nook!
What is Literati Book Club?
Literati is the world’s best “try before you buy” book club. Each month your child will receive a special box filled with 5 curated books, plus personalized surprises!
You have a full week to enjoy all the books, then you can purchase the ones you love and send back the rest in the enclosed pre-paid return envelope. Returns are free!
What’s Inside the Box?
Each monthly box includes:
- 5 beautiful high-quality books hand-picked just for your child
- An exclusive collectible art poster
- Personalized book stickers
- Surprise extras!
These are the BEST books — gorgeous quality, from award-winning authors.
Each box has a theme, so your kids go on a unique journey each month and learn about topics that they might not otherwise have found on their own.
This month my oldest daughter’s box was focused on diversity — she’s loved all the selections and I love that she is getting to hear from a variety of voices.
My girls especially loved the stickers with their names on them that say “this book belongs to…” What a fun way to make their books feel even more special!
What Ages?
Literati offers 6 different clubs with age-appropriate books:
- Neo — newborn through 3 years
- Sprout — ages 3 through 5
- Nova — ages 5 through 7
- Sage — ages 7 through 9
- Phoenix — ages 9 through 12
- Titan — ages 13+
Here’s a look at the books our youngest daughter received (she’s 2 years old):
I love that the baby and toddler books are a sensory experience, with things that the littlest “readers” can touch and manipulate. Plus the books are sturdy and made to last!

We loved the variety in this box! Colorfully illustrated stories, beginning chapter books perfect for new readers, and an interactive activity book!
How Much Does Literati Cost?
Club membership is $9.95 per month, plus the cost of the books you decide to keep.
But here’s the really cool part…Literati will match (or even beat) Amazon’s list price on the books in your box, so you know you’re getting an amazing deal!
