Diploma Cookies

Graduation season is upon us and this is definitely one of the busiest times of the year! If you’re looking for a cute treat idea to make for a graduation party, these “diploma cookies” couldn’t be any easier! There’s no cooking or baking at all and you just need 2 ingredients!

We used rolled wafer cookies because they are just the right size and shape to resemble mini diplomas. A strand of red licorice tied around the middle completes the look. So cute!

I love this recipe because it is a time saver – all you are doing is assembling the ingredients – so anyone can make these cookies even if you’re busy! But they look so festive on a graduation party snack table!

Instructions

  1. Separate the individual strands of the Twizzlers.
  2. Cut or tear each licorice strand in half, so you have strips that are about 3-4 inches in length.
  3. Take one piece of licorice and wrap it around the middle of a rolled wafer cookie.
  4. Carefully tie a single knot to secure the licorice.

Prep Tips

  • Amounts – I used one whole can of wafer cookies. Two Twizzlers pull-n-peel candies was enough to add a tie to each of the cookies, once I had separated the strands and cut them in half.
  • Flavors – I used chocolate hazelnut Pirouette cookies and cherry flavored Twizzlers. Feel free to use your favorite flavor of cookies, or multiple flavors!
  • Tying the Knot – This was the trickiest part of making these cookies, but once you get the hang of it you can move pretty quickly. All you need to tie is a single knot and it will stay in place because the licorice is a bit sticky. When tying the knot, don’t pull to hard or the licorice will tear. I found that gently wiggling the licorice helped tighten the knot without ripping the candy.
