Four Ways to Use Halloween Costumes Year-Round
Halloween was always (and still is) one of my favorite times of the year. I love the costumes, the excitement, going Trick-or-Treating together with family and friends, and the treats! However it always seems to be over so quickly!
My girls loved their costumes (and looked so darn cute in them!) that I wanted to think of a few ways that we could continue to use them the other 364 days of the year!
Four Ways to Use Halloween Costumes Year-Round:
Go on a Walk — Annabelle’s favorite part of Halloween and Trick-or-Treat was the fact that it was a 2 hour walk! She could care less about the candy, but she loved being able to hold our hands and follow her big sis up to the door at each house. A walk around the neighborhood in costume would be just as fun plus it would be much less crowded on a normal day!
Photo Shoot — We didn’t have the best luck with our photos on Halloween — everyone was just too excited to stand still and smile for the camera, not too mention the issue of fading daylight. We had a blast putting on costumes again and letting the girls pose. Well, in Annabelle’s case she actually took off running every single time, but we got some of the best smiles in these “action” shots.
Pretend Play — Free play is that much more interesting for kids when they have costumes and props. Lilu asks all the time if she can put on her special dresses and “just play” around the house. The girls are entertained for hours and mom actually has a chance to get a few things done! (Though sometimes I just love to watch them enjoying each others’ company!)
Storybook Tales — Pull a favorite storybook off the shelf and encourage your kids to re-create the action. Every kid dreams of being their favorite character — a costume is a great way to get the creativity going and help them really feel the part!
A special thank you to Great Pretenders for sending these lovely costumes! They are absolutely beautiful and very well-made. Both girls feel like true princesses when they get dressed up and it is wonderful to see their faces light up! Annabelle will wear her cape for hours on end, until it’s time to eat or take a bath.
Annabelle is wearing the Glitter Princess Cape.
Lilu is wearing the Crystal Queen Gown.
Be sure to check out the Great Pretenders website because it has SO many more styles (AND accessories!) for both boys and girls. (Lilu spent over an hour browsing, “ooohing” and “ahhhing” at all of the options.) Costumes would make an excellent Christmas, birthday, or “just because” gift for that special little pretender in your life! They’re not just for Halloween, you can use Halloween costumes year-round for fun and creative play!
Disclosure: We were provided these costumes for review purposes, however, all opinions are 100% mine.
