6 Must-do Activities in the Horse Capital of the World

Travel

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ocala/Marion County VCB. All opinions are 100% mine.

What’s inside: This year, try something different than the “ordinary” family vacation. Visit the Horse Capital of the World ™, Ocala/Marion County, Florida for an adventure-filled stay!

The Kentucky Derby last weekend kicked off the Triple Crown and once again everyone is talking about horse racing. As a lifelong horse owner and enthusiast, I can’t help but catch the excitement myself!

Growing up, I was certifiably horse-crazy, heading out for a ride every chance I got and reading my favorite horse-themed books (both fiction and instructional) over and over. I would have loved a trip to a place known as the Horse Capital of the World ™!

Why you should visit the Horse Capital of the World -- activities including stable tours, racing, riding lessons, camps, trail rides, and more!

Where is the Horse Capital of the World ™?

It’s official! This city of Ocala in Marion County, Florida holds the title of the Horse Capital of the World™. And it’s no wonder! The over 600 thoroughbred horse farms in Marion County have produced:

  • 45 national champions
  • 6 Kentucky Derby winners
  • 20 Breeders’ Cup champions
  • 6 Horses of the Year

In fact, Ocala/Marion County is home to more horses than any where in the world. That’s why it is the perfect destination for horse lovers and adventure seekers alike!
