Throwing a kids party doesn’t need to be an expensive or time-intensive ordeal. Purchasing soccer-specific party supplies can add up quickly, so making your own decorations and soccer-themed foods can help keep the budget reasonable.

I ordered these white paper lanterns from Oriental Trading Company, but you can often find similar versions at the Dollar Tree or on Amazon (listed below).

How to make Soccer Paper Lanterns:

STEP ONE: Print out our free pentagon tracing pattern here and trace onto your card stock several times. You want at least 7+ pentagons per paper lantern.

TIP: Another option is to paint the soccer pattern onto the paper lanterns using the provided template. We use the card stock to allow for better control and easy adjusting of the final spacing. You can also carefully remove the hexagons from the paper lanterns after the party, if you’d like to re-purpose the lanterns. These white lanterns could easily become Pokeballs, Baseballs, covered in glitter, or kept white for a classic effect. You can use them over and over, and even re-purpose them!

STEP TWO: Cut out the hexagons and attach to the paper lanterns using double-sided tape. I love the “floating” look of the black hexagons on the lantern!

STEP THREE: Hang the lanterns using fishing wire, so they appear suspended in midair. We used tape to hold them to the ceiling for the party, you can use a decorating hook for more permanent fixture.
