My daughter Lilu, like many children her age I’m sure, wants nothing more than a FROZEN birthday party fit for a princess. Children’s birthday parties can get very pricey if you’re not careful, so my goal this year is to create the FROZEN birthday party of her dreams, all while keeping to a budget of less than $50.
Our first step was to head over to Walmart where we found an incredible selection of FROZEN-themed party supplies from American Greetings. Lilu had a blast looking at all the different FROZEN-themed options, which to her delight, filled a large portion of the party aisle.
When we got home and spread our bounty out on the kitchen table, I was amazed at what we were able to get for only $38. That left plenty of room in the budget for refreshments, like a blue and white marbled FROZEN birthday cake!
The best part of all, of course, is decorating! We have an exercise/game room that is easily cleared out to create a “Princess Party Zone.” The plan is to fill it will all things FROZEN so Lilu and her friends will feel like they are princesses in Arendelle!
American Greetings has some really fantastic ready-made decorations to take the stress out of setting up. I love this huge “Happy Birthday” letter banner which spans the entire entrance to the room. You can hang a strand of Christmas lights behind the banner to make it pop:
Streamers left over from a previous party (or available for only 99 cents at Walmart!) create a magical and festive entrance for the children to walk through to enter the party room:
I especially loved this wall decoration set featuring a life-sized Anna and Elsa. It fills almost an entire wall of the room, truly setting the scene. Plus, it makes the perfect background for photos! It was surprisingly easy to hang, as the plastic clung to the wall on its own, so all it took was a bit of tape to secure the panels.
We also picked up a variety of disposable tableware, which are not only beautiful decorations themselves, but they also make clean-up a breeze! I folded the napkins into mini crowns, held together by adorable wristbands which were one of the first things that caught Lilu’s eye.
Here’s how you put together the napkins — they’re super easy!
Finally, with a house full of children, you definitely will want to plan some activities! We created a giant memory game using paper plates which is sure to keep Lilu and her guests entertained:
We used 16 dessert-sized plates and wrote FROZEN quotes, character names, and song lyrics on the back in marker. Then we mixed them up, laid them out on the floor, and voila! Games are even more fun when they are BIG!
You don’t have to spend a ton of money to throw a great birthday party! Even on a budget, you can create a beautiful, festive, and fun party atmosphere. More importantly, you’ll be creating memories to last a lifetime!

What a super cute idea with the origami crowns! I love it! FROZEN is still a favorite in our house! My soon to be 6 year old daughter is still obsessed. 🙂 #client
Thanks Summer! I’m not sure Frozen will ever go out of style at our house! Even the baby sings “Let it Go” now haha
