How to wear your NFL team colors — Texas style!

"Soccer Mom Style" and Fashion Tips for Moms· Houston

I realized that in all of my blogging I have left out one important detail about myself — I am a huge sports fan, specifically football! My brother wasn’t born until I was almost six years old, so I was the one watching games on TV with my dad, dressing in our team colors, and learning all the cheers and songs.

Growing up in West Virginia, I didn’t have a pro football team to “call my own,” so it was exciting to move to Houston right around the time that the Houston Texans were getting started. Over the years I have watched them develop from a fledgling squad to a Playoff contender.

One of the most important things about being a football fan is making sure everyone else knows who you’re rooting for! Game day style is crucial, but it’s also fun to wear your NFL team colors in unexpected places. I’m going to show you my two favorite looks: one for game day and one for “off the field.”

One of my best friend’s birthdays coincided with opening day for the Houston Texans, which was perfect because she is a super-fan! Opening day for the Texans is known as “Liberty White Out,” and fans are encourage to show support by wearing white.

While browsing the NFL Style Lounge for my opening day look, I fell in love with this fun and flashy shirt. The material is reminicent of a jersey, but it is cut like a well-fitting T-shirt. The addition of hot pink and a little bling means you’ll definitely stand out from the crowd. If you’re in Texas, the game day “uniform” is cut-offs and cowboy boots:

We might not have won that day, but we had so much fun together dressing up and cheering the Texans on! (And we had awesome seats!)

The NFL Style Lounge has some awesome workout gear, which is what I live in as a stay at home mom. I also love to hit the bag and I’m itching to get back in the Muay Thai gym — Texas girls are tough!

Whether it’s game day or everyday, it’s always the right time to show who you’re rooting for! How do you wear your NFL team colors? Share your game day style essentials below and be sure to follow @NFLFanStyle on social media for more inspiration!
