The tween stage is such an exciting time — your little girl is growing up and developing into her own (strong!) personality, but they still think Mom is cool! My daughter is eight, and she’s started to express interest in getting ready in the morning, so I thought that this would be the perfect time to create an age-appropriate “Mom & me” tween morning routine.
The first thing we do when the alarm goes off is to get dressed and put on some soft, but cheerful music. This starts the day in a positive way and gets us moving faster.
Then it’s breakfast time to fuel our bodies and rehydrate — I think breakfast might be the favorite meal of the day for both of us!
Next it’s back to the bathroom to brush teeth, as we’ve begun incorporating this second brushing into her daily routine. My daughter loves to brush her teeth, and we have a special song that we sing to make it extra fun.
Finally, we wash the last bit of sleep away by giving our faces a good scrub. We’re both loving the new AcneFree Sonic Advanced Cleaning Duo which comes with an oil-free purifying cleanser and purifying facial cleansing brush.
My daughter simply uses water with the purifying facial cleansing brush to get in the habit of washing her face. She’s only eight and still has perfect skin, so it’s more about practicing good hygiene (and being just like Mom!) She loves the pulsating brush and the soft silicone touchpoint are gentle on her skin, so I feel completely comfortable letting her try it.
The oil-free purifying cleanser is helpful for me when I’m having a bad skin day. (Yes, I still have them…thanks post-pregnancy hormones!) The active ingredient, micro-benzoyl peroxide, has always been the best for helping clear up my breakouts.
The Daily Skin Therapy line is great for everyday use — it’s a three-step system to help prevent and treat minor breakouts. It would also be perfect for tweens and teens that have oily or combination skin. The set includes Daily Skin Therapy Acne Wash, Daily Skin Therapy Pads (perfect for toning and unclogging pores), and Daily Skin Therapy Complexion Perfecting Cream.
But my absolute favorite of the AcneFree products is the purifying facial cleansing brush! It comes with two sets of silicon touchpoints, so my daughter and I can each have our own (though it is non-porous and extremely easy to clean either way!) I’ve seen brushes like this sell for $100 or more, but the AcneFree Advanced Cleaning Duo (which comes with the oil-free purifying cleanser too) is less than one-third the price of expensive brushes, and you can find it at your local Walmart in the facial care aisle.
My daughter (like many her age) thrives on consistency, so creating this tween morning routine has been very helpful in making our mornings efficient and cheerful. Plus, it’s never too young to start creating positive habits and putting their best face forward!
