Why You Need an HVAC Tune-Up

Family· Home

What is an HVAC Tune-Up and is it really necessary? We’ll break down the ways a tune-up can keep your AC running better and save you money! Sponsored by ARS/Rescue Rooter.

Summer is here in Texas, but it’s been HOT for weeks!

As soon as the weather started to warm up, I called ARS/Rescue Rooter for a seasonal HVAC tune-up to make sure that our air conditioner was ready to keep us cool. 100 degree temperatures are no joke and this is the worst time for an air conditioner break-down!

What is an HVAC Tune Up?

An HVAC tune-up is a preventative service where a qualified technician cleans and checks your air conditioning system.

Many of us don’t think to service our air conditioner unless there is already something wrong. However, periodic check-ups can spot a potential issue before it becomes a costly problem.

Regular maintenance can also prevent problems and keep your system working as efficiently as possible, saving you money in the long run.

Is an HVAC Tune Up Necessary?

Would you drive your car for years without an oil change? Not a good idea!

The same goes for your HVAC system — regular maintenance is crucial to keeping it running well and avoiding major problems.

I’ll share our story…

The day before our scheduled HVAC tune-up service, one of our AC units stopped working. Admittedly, it had been about 2 years since our last service.

After getting the AC unit running again, our technician explained why the unit stopped working, as well as a couple potential major problems that we could expect in the future.

One of those issues involved a stopped-up drain pan that would eventually over-flow in the attic above the kids’ bedroom. And we would have had no idea if we hadn’t scheduled a tune-up!

Our HVAC tune-up service prevented a disastrous overflow of yucky drain water into the room where our kids sleep.

Now we have a new unit that runs great and drains correctly. We are able to set the temperature higher, run the unit less, and as a result will hopefully save money on our electric bill this summer!

7 Reasons You Need an HVAC Tune-Up

Now you know our story and why we’ll never skip a tune-up again! Here are a few more reasons why an HVAC tune-up is totally worth it…

1. Keeps Your AC Unit Running Efficiently

Regular maintenance ensures that everything is operating as it should. It’s just like taking your car to get an oil change or going to your yearly dentist appointment.

2. Allows You to Spot Potential Issues Before They Become BIG Problems

Many times, a breakdown will start as something small. If you catch it and fix it early, you can prevent little things from becoming a big disaster.

Just take our story for example! If we hadn’t scheduled a tune-up, we could have ended up with a leak and potential ceiling damage!

3. Lowers Running Costs

An HVAC system that isn’t running optimally may need to work harder to heat or cool your home. That means you’ll pay more because you’re using more electricity! However, if your system is maintained, it will work more efficiently and cost less to operate.

4. Improves Air Quality in the Home

We all want our family to breathe clean air, but a dirty or poorly maintained HVAC system can do just the opposite! A yearly tune-up keeps dirt and debris to a minimum. Be sure to change your air filters every season too!

5. Increases the Lifespan of Your System

When you take care of something, it lasts longer. An HVAC system is a major investment and adds value to your home. Make it last longer by keeping it maintained.

6. A Well-Maintained Unit is Better for the Environment

When your HVAC system uses fewer resources and run as efficiently as possible, it reduces your environmental impact.

7. It Can Keep Your Warranty Longer

Some warranties require regular maintenance in order to keep them valid. Even if it’s not the case for you, it’s never a bad thing to keep everything in tip-top shape!

So who do you call??

We call ARS/Rescue Rooter for all of our Houston air conditioning service needs!

What Sets ARS/Rescue Rooter Apart?

The number one thing that really sets ARS/Rescue Rooter apart from many other companies is that they are always ready to serve. Seriously, you can call 7 days a week — which makes them a lifesaver during an HVAC emergency. Who wants to wait days or even weeks for an appointment when your AC is broken?!

Another thing that I appreciate is that every ARS/Rescue Rooter employee goes through a thorough background check and regular drug testing. When you’re having people in your home, it’s so important to know that they’ve been vetted appropriately.

Finally, ARS/Rescue Rooter offers the Executive Membership Club, a yearly membership for preventative maintenance.

There are three plans, starting at just $2/month, so you can choose one that fits your needs and budget. A good starting point is the Essential Plan ($10/month), which includes:

  • Free trip charge
  • Free diagnostic
  • Priority service
  • 10% Discount on repairs
  • 1 Essential Tune-Up visit
  • 1 Plumbing home inspection (heat/cool combo)
  • Dedicated phone support

The yearly tune-up visit alone pays for the plan! On top of that, you save on repairs all year long!
