Our house is the go-to spot for family gatherings (in no small part to my husband’s cooking). However, I am a bit of a last-minute planner when it comes to organizing events.

This Easter is no exception — with all the Spring Break and end of school year business, the holiday just seemed to sneak up on me!

Fortunately I keep a few easy Easter party ideas on deck which allow me to put together a fun afternoon for our family — fast. Today I’m sharing my favorites, along with my “secret” spot for finding amazing deals on all things holiday!

DIY Easter Decor Ideas

We made this simple Easter egg wreath a couple years ago and still hang it up on our front door! It’s a fun (and easy) way to use up all those extra plastic eggs.

This burlap Easter Bunny door wreath from Mama in the Now is another adorable do-it-yourself holiday decor craft. Kids will love the giant googly eyes!

Clever Uses for Store-Bought Easter Decor

If you’re especially short on time, or DIY-ing isn’t your thing (I’m not exactly a craft whiz myself), JCPenney has awesome Easter goodies at prices that won’t bust your Spring break budget. In fact, since I was doing my Easter party prep at the very last minute this year, I scored all my JCPenney holiday finds at half-off. Which made it that much sweeter!

Here’s what I picked up for the party on my JCPenney trip:

  • Glittery pastel egg wreath
  • Faux moss bunny vase
  • 2 colorful mason jars with wire handles (these will come in handy on many other occasions)

The best part? My quick shopping trip came in at $25 less than my planned budget! JCPenney is one of my favorite destinations because it is a one-stop-shop for everything from clothes to home goods, and it is always affordable.

This glittery Easter egg wreath made the perfect centerpiece to highlight our homemade confetti cake. Simply lay the wreath on the table and set a cake stand in the middle.

When I saw this bright green bunny vase, I knew it was perfect for…something! It was so adorable I just had to have it! My husband actually thought of using this vase to hold Easter treats.

We grabbed some of our favorite Easter candy and put them on sticks like pops. They fit perfectly in our bunny vase and couldn’t look cuter! I think this is my favorite part of the whole display and it only took minutes to put together!

I finished our Easter dessert table with tinted mason jars filled with tea lights (battery-powered instead of real flame, as my 2-year old investigates everything hands-on). These colorful jars can be reused for just about any event, as they’re not Easter-specific.

Easy Easter Confetti Cake

This Easter confetti cake is colorful and festive, and doesn’t require hours in the kitchen! When we’re pressed for time, we opt for box cake (yep, I’ll admit it!)

TIP: Fool ’em with that made-from-scratch taste by substituting butter for oil when baking your box mix cake.

To get the look, simply bake a round layer cake and frost with white icing. Set an egg-shaped cookie cutter on top of the frosted cake and pour a thin layer of rainbow sprinkles inside. Gently press sprinkles into the frosting and remove cookie cutter. Repeat.

If you are feeling even more adventurous, this Creme Egg Cake is guaranteed to be a hit too!
