My husband recently took our girls to a kids birthday party, but he ran into a pickle when shopping for a gift. Since my husband didn’t know the child’s exact age, he wasn’t sure what toy was appropriate.

I just wish we’d heard about Magnaflex sooner because it would have solved our birthday party dilemma!

Magnaflex is the first and only flexible magnetic construction toy and it’s perfect for kids of all ages and of all interests. If you’re looking for a unique idea for birthdays, holiday gift exchanges, or for your own kids to play together, this is it!

Magnaflex is…

  • A STEM/engineering toy that allows kids to create complex 3D structures based on examples included in the package, or their own imagination
  • An art manipulative that kids can use to “sculpt” 3D creations or 2D pictures on a flat magnetic surface (like the fridge)
  • An imaginative play starter to spark creativity
  • Soothing sensory experience
  • Gender-neutral and appropriate for a wide age range

Finally – a Toy the Kids Can Play Together!

Our girls are five years apart, so finding toys and games they can play with together is sometimes a challenge. A three year old and a nine year old have different abilities and interests, but Magnaflex bridges the age gap!

My youngest is three, and she loves to sort, put things together, and tear them apart. She enjoys snapping the Magnaflex together in stacks based on color. They are large enough in size that her small hands can easily manipulate them without ever getting frustrated.

Tip: If you practice any sort of preschool at home, Magnaflex is a great addition to your toolkit. Use them to work on fine motor skills, color recognition, and early math concepts.

My oldest is nine and can handle more complex building projects, like following the guide included in the kits to build 3D animals. Together we made a spider:

The unique shape of Magnaflex pieces allow you to snap them together, link them, “zip” them up, stack them, bend, and form them into almost anything your mind can imagine.

I have to admit that even I enjoy the sensory aspect of the Magnaflex pieces. Sometimes when the girls have their kits out, I’ll snag a couple of pieces and bend them and snap them together as I watch TV or read a book. It’s kind of like a DIY fidget toy!

But perhaps my favorite thing about Magnaflex is how easy they are to clean up! Simply snap them together — they’re all the same shape so no sorting necessary (unlike many other building kits).
