My Medifast Experience

A few weeks ago, I was invited to try out the new Medifast® Summer Shake-Up™ Kit and share my Medifast experience. I’ve never done a plan like this before, so I was definitely curious. What would the food be like? Would this really work? Would I be hungry all the time?

You get to eat six times a day for seven days, which is more often than I normally eat. As I said, Everything you need is provided, though you can switch it up a little by blending your shakes with ice to make smoothies or eating your Lean & Green meals on a bed of baby spinach or lettuce (I love veggies, so I did this every day!)
Will I be hungry?
That was my obvious first question when starting the plan! However, since I was eating six times a day, I never went more than two hours without a meal so I really wasn’t hungry like I expected. It was nice to feel satisfied, but not stuffed — I got used to it and even after completing my Summer Shake-Up, I’ve noticed that I don’t eat as large of portions as I used to.
What is the food like?
Everything is all set to eat right away, with minimal preparation. The crunchers and bars can be enjoyed as is, so they are perfect to toss in your purse when you’re on the go.
To make the shakes, you simply need to mix with about eight ounces of water. An awesome Medifast Blender Bottle is included, which has measurements on the side to make it even easier. The blender ball insider works like a whisk and perfectly mixes everything with less than a minute of shaking. I was so excited about this cup — it really is handy!
The Flavors of Home Meals are microwavable, so they couldn’t be easier! The directions say 90 seconds, but I only did 60 seconds because that’s all it took with my microwave. The Flavors of Home Meals are a specifically proportioned mix of lean protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables. I liked to have mine on a bed of fresh baby spinach for extra veggies, but they are already a complete meal as is.

Will it work?
What really got me excited was how I felt. I loved not feeling stuffed all the time, because meals are already portioned for you. I loved that I didn’t have to worry “what am I going to eat today?” because it was all right there and ready to go. I loved that my clothes fit better after only one week. I loved that I could actually see a difference and my husband noticed too.
My overall Medifast experience was very positive, and not just because I lost weight! I consider myself to be a healthy eater already, but being on this program gave me the extra kick in the pants to be more disciplined. Since it’s a 7-day kit, it was totally do-able.
