At Home Workouts for Moms
You don’t have to spend hours a day in the gym to get real results! Keep reading to learn more about my favorite at home workouts for moms that are easy to do in small spaces and on YOUR schedule! Sponsored by Openfit.
We all want to look and feel our best, but it can be hard to find time to exercise as a busy mom! Since I work at home, I’m always on the lookout for good home exercise programs. That way when I have a break in my day, I can sneak in a workout!
Because let’s be real…when you’ve got kids it’s tough to find a couple hours at a time to drive to the gym! However, I can usually find 15 minutes where the kids are busy, so why not take that time to do something positive?
In this post I’ll share what I’ve tried and found to be the best workout programs for busy moms.
What Do I Need to Get Started Working Out at Home?
If you’re just getting started with home exercise, my number one tip is this…don’t wing it! Find an established program to follow — you’ll be much more likely to stick with it!
I love Openfit because there are lots of different types of programs to choose from to fit your interest, skill level, and schedule. You can access Openfit on your laptop or through the mobile app, so you can exercise anywhere! I’ll share some of my favorite Openfit workouts in this post, as well as how to get a 21-day free trial!
The best home workouts:
- Can be done in a small space if needed
- Require only basic equipment, such as a mat
- Flexible times and on-demand streaming that fit your schedule
When getting started with home exercise, keep it simple. You don’t need to spend a ton of money on fancy equipment and you don’t need a dedicated home gym.
All you need is a bit of open space where you can safely move around — the middle of your living room or corner of the bedroom will work just fine.
My Favorite Openfit Workouts
The following are my favorite Openfit workout programs because they are low impact (great for beginners, injuries, postpartum, etc.) and they don’t require much space.
Keep in mind that these are just a few of the many, many programs available on Openfit!

Yoga
Yoga has a reputation as being “easy” but it is the ultimate workout in my opinion! Yoga combines body-weight strength training, stretching, deep breathing, and meditation.
I’ve practiced yoga since college, but really stepped it up after the birth of my first daughter. It helped speed up my recovery process after a c-section and got me feeling stronger again.
My favorite thing about yoga is that you can choose routines that meet your specific goals, such as power yoga for sculpting lean muscle or zen yoga for relaxation.
My Favorite Openfit Yoga Program: Enjoy the benefits of yoga every day with Yoga52, a daily yoga challenge. Try a 14-day challenge to get started!
Pilates
Pilates was developed over a century ago as a way to help ballet dancers recover from injuries. It incorporates stretching and strength training, with a focus on the core.
During pilates, you’ll spend all of your time on the mat, so it is great if you’re looking to avoid high impact workouts. Controlled movements help tone and build muscle (without bulking up) and increase flexibility.
Pilates has been one of my go-to exercises for almost two decades! It works!
My Favorite Openfit Pilates Program: If you’re new to pilates, try Beginner Pilates with Lisa Hubbard. Lisa will guide you through three weeks of targeted classes to master the basics and get results!
Barre
Named after the ballet barre, this workout combines ballet-inspired movements with elements from yoga and pilates.
While the movements look simple, they are quite challenging because there is emphasis on muscle control. Those small movements get BIG results!
In addition to building lean muscle, barre is excellent for improving posture. If you sit at a desk all day, consider trying a barre program to help balance your body!
My Favorite Openfit Barre Program: I’ve practiced both yoga and pilates for years, but barre is a new one for me! I’m doing a 21-day Xtend Barre program with Andrea Rogers on Openfit. My mom swears by barre, so I had to try it! My legs were burning (in a good way) after just one workout!
I especially appreciate that Andrea shows you how to do the moves using a chair, if you don’t have an exercise barre at home.
What is Openfit?
Openfit is an online wellness platform and app with hundreds of fun and challenging fitness classes. With Openfit, you can workout with world-renowned personal trainers…all from the comfort of your home!
The ability to get gym-quality workouts at home was important to me, because our family has been staying close to home this year. Also, working out at home saves a lot of time because you don’t have to drive to the gym!
How much does Openfit cost?
Openfit costs $120 for the whole year, that’s only $10 per month. For about the same amount as a trip to the coffee shop, you can stream hundreds of exciting classes that will have a positive impact on your life.
It’s even more valuable when you compare that to a traditional gym membership, which might cost 3 to 10 times that amount!
But wait, there’s more!
In addition to an extensive catalogue of home workouts, with Openfit you’ll also get:
- Recipe ideas and meal plans: Get inspired to eat well and see even better results with your weight loss goals!

So if you’re not ready to go back to the gym yet…bring the gym to YOU with Openfit! Whether you have 15 minutes or an hour a day, there’s an Openfit program to fit your schedule!
Join me in going through a program on Openfit. Let’s do this together!
