Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pie

If you’re looking for an easy dessert that comes together with minimal effort, this no-bake pie is hard to beat! Made with just 5 simple ingredients, including instant pudding and plenty of chocolate chips, it has all the flavor of creamy chocolate chip cookie dough in a cool, fluffy dessert. There’s no baking required, making it especially handy during the warmer months when you don’t want to turn the oven on and heat up the kitchen.

One of my favorite things about this recipe is that it makes two pies, so there’s plenty to share at cookouts, potlucks, family gatherings, and holiday celebrations. It’s the kind of dessert that looks impressive on the table but takes only a few minutes to put together! The “hardest” part of the process is being patient while it sets!

You can serve it chilled from the refrigerator for a soft, creamy texture, or freeze it for a few hours if you prefer something more like an ice cream cake. Either way, it’s an easy crowd-pleaser that disappears quickly whenever we make it.

Helpful Kitchen Tools

Instructions

  1. Make the Base – Add the instant pudding mix and whipping cream to the bowl of the stand mixer. Beat on medium speed until well-combined and mixture begins to thicken. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of the mini chocolate chips with a spatula.
  2. Fill the Pie Shells – Divide the mixture evenly between the two pie crusts and spread evenly. Chill in freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. Add the Topping – Spread half of the Cool Whip over each pie, smoothing it into an even layer across the top. Sprinkle the tops of the pies with the remaining 1/2 cup of miniature chocolate chips.
  4. Freeze – Chill pies in the freezer until fully set and ready to serve.

Prep Tips

  • Yield – This recipe makes enough filling for two standard 9-inch pie shells.
  • Pie Crusts – Be sure to use premade “ready crusts” that do not require baking. Graham cracker crusts or a chocolate cookie crust are both delicious choices. (We used graham cracker here).
  • Garnish – We used mini chocolate chips as our topping/decoration, but you could alternative used crumbled chocolate chip cookies.
  • Storage – Once the pies are set, they can be kept either in the refrigerator or the freezer. Keep in mind that if you store the pies in the fridge, the whipped topping will be softer. If kept frozen, the pies will have the consistency of ice cream cake.
  • For Easier Slicing – Run a chef’s knife or metal pie cutter under hot water for 45 seconds before slicing and wipe clean after each cut.
