What is a Mudslide Cocktail?

A traditional mudslide is a mixed drink consisting of vodka, Irish Cream liqueur, coffee liqueur, heavy cream, and chocolate. A frozen mudslide is basically the same thing, except you swap ice cream for the liquid cream and mix everything in a blender until you have a milkshake consistency.

Our mudslide is a combination of the two, sort of like an ice cream float. And we used chocolate flavored vodka to really amp up the chocolate flavor!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce chocolate flavored vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Irish cream liquor
  • 1/2 ounce coffee liquor
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 TB chocolate syrup

(amounts are per serving)

Bartender Tools Used

  • Plastic mugs
  • Stainless steelĀ cocktail shaker
  • Small wire whisk

Directions

Drizzle chocolate on the inside of a frosted mug (we actually used plastic mugs). Return to freezer until so chocolate will stay on the side of the glass until you are ready to fill with your mudslide mix.

Combine liquid ingredients with 1 scoop ice cream in a large stainless steelĀ cocktail shaker. Mix by hand with a small wire whisk until smooth. (You could also do this in a blender if making a larger batch).

Pour mudslide mixture into frosted mug and top with another scoop of ice cream. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and enjoy immediately.

How to Make a Dairy Free Mudslide

Substitute dairy-free ice cream (my favorites are made with either coconut milk or cashew milk) and omit the Irish cream liquor, and you’ve got yourself an amazingly rich dairy-free chocolate mudslide! Simply add a bit of non-dairy milk/cream if needed to thin the mixture.
