Inside: Your young reader will love this Percy Jackson Word Search inspired by the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series! Sponsored by Disney Book Group.
Our Summer with Percy Jackson & the Olympians
At the start of the summer, we teamed up with Disney Book Group for a fun reading challenge. They shipped our oldest daughter a collector’s set of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians book series with the goal to read them all by summer’s end.
Not only did my daughter finish the entire series — she read each book twice! I think that speaks volumes (see what I did there?) about any book when a kid will go back to it time and time again.
Curious, I asked which book in the series is her favorite and my daughter responded incredulously, “I have to pick ONE favorite?!”
When I asked my daughter what it is about Percy Jackson that she especially liked she explained that even though the story is complex, the books are easy to read. That way she doesn’t have to slow down and ask us for any clarification on vocabulary words and such when she’s wrapped up in the story!

Who is Percy Jackson?
If you’re not yet familiar with the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, it is the saga of teenage demigod Percy Jackson. When Percy finds out that he is actually the son of Poseidon (yep, the same Poseidon from Greek mythology) his life takes an unexpected turn. Percy must learn to harness his newfound powers, rescue his mother, and prevent a battle that could destroy the earth.
Our daughter is such a fan that after she read the entire Percy Jackson & the Olympian series (twice), she started reading another series by author Rick Riordan — The Heroes of Olympus, which is the follow-up to Percy Jackson.
If your teen or tween is fascinated by mythology or fantasy adventure stories, I highly recommend that you head over to ReadRiordan.com to check out all of the other books too! The fun doesn’t have to stop when Percy Jackson & the Olympians ends!
Psst- If you pop over to ReadRiordan.com they’ve announced that the Percy Jackson & the Olympians The Last Olympian graphic novel will be released on August 13, 2019!

You might be wondering how my daughter had time to read an entire book series more than once in just a few weeks. Well, she reads fast — sometimes so fast that she forgets parts. I think she just gets so excited that she wants to read as fast as possible to see what happens next. I’m definitely guilty of that when I read too!
That’s why I love to have companion activities on hand when possible to help make sure that we remember what we read. Plus they’re fun!
One of my daughter’s favorite activities are word searches. Actually, my five-year-old is really starting to get into word searches too, though she still needs a bit of assistance.
We created this Percy Jackson word search as a summer boredom buster and companion activity for the book series. It’s packed full of words that a true Percy Jackson & the Olympians fan will recognize!
A little background: Percy struggles with dyslexia, which he learns is because his brain is hard-wired to understand ancient Greek instead of modern English. In fact, Rick Riordan dreamed up the entire Percy Jackson epic after learning of his own son’s diagnosis of ADHD and dyslexia – as a way to encourage other kids dealing with similar learning disabilities.
With our word search, we’ve also included a second page with Percy Jackson word search answers! There are even a few bonus words included for super word sleuths to find!
