School Organization Binder for Parents

How many times has your child’s school sent home an important paper and you promptly misplaced it? Despite my best intentions, I do it all the time!

This year I made the goal to be organized from the start, so I created a school organization notebook for myself.

With one binder, I keep track of school events, staff names and contact information, and essential paperwork like permission slips and report cards. It’s such a simple DIY project (and the perfect excuse to treat yourself to some gorgeous goodies from Office Depot and OfficeMax!)

DIY School Planner Supplies

How to make a school organization binder for your household

This year we did our school supply shopping at OfficeMax. They had so many colorful and unique supplies — where was all this when I was a kid?!

I especially loved the new Modern Minimal collection, which is just my style. (Mom deserves cool stuff too!)

I created this printable school information sheet to match my favorite 3-ring binder from the Modern Minimal collection. This one sheet contains all of the most important info I need at a glance — I put it in a sheet protector so it will last all year in the very front of the notebook.

The best part about this school organization notebook is that you can customize it to fit your needs. I added a couple pocket folders so I’ll have a place to put report cards, permission slips, etc. That way I’ll have everything handy when I need it. (Instead of papers disappearing from the infamous paper stack on my kitchen counter!)

Don’t forget the kids!

Even if your school sent home a very specific list of school supplies to purchase (our school always asks for plain white binders and simple primary color folders), there’s still room for supplies with personality!

I picked up items from the adorable Happy Thoughts collection (also available at Office Depot and OfficeMax) to make a similar binder for my daughter. That way she can learn to keep her own school things organized too! And it’s a lot more fun with these cute and colorful notebooks and folders!
