The Simple Charger Organization Trick You Need in Your Life
Have you ever needed to re-charge something, but had no idea which charger is which? It seems like every electronic device that you buy comes with its own unique plug and before you know it, they’re all mixed up in a tangled heap of cords! This is a real problem in our house, or was, until I had a “light-bulb moment.”
This is an actual “before” photo of what I dubbed our “charger drawer.” It was full of cords and chargers of all sorts, some of which have obvious mates (gotta love white iPhone chargers), but others were a mystery.
This trick is so simple I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner! But it will make life SO much easier when you need to re-charge something.
STEP ONE: Figure out which device each cord belongs to. Yep, it takes time, but you’ll never have to do it again once you’re done with this!
STEP TWO: Cut a piece of opaque tape into a small strip, about 1/2″ by 2″. I used packing tape that we had on hand, but you could use masking tape, painters tape, duct tape, etc. so you don’t have to make a special purchase for this project. Place tape under one cord, sticky side up:
STEP THREE: Fold tape strip over cord so that the tape sticks to itself and forms a tab:
STEP FOUR: Write the name of the device on the tab with permanent marker. (This charger belongs to my beloved Bose SoundLink portable speaker.)
Once you’ve labeled each charger and cord, you’ll never forget which device they belong to again! This could have saved me so much time had I thought of it years ago, but better late than never!
