Pencil Snack Bags
Calling all of my fellow creative classroom parents and party planners! These adorable Pencil Treat Bags are about to become your new go-to for back-to-school bashes and classroom celebrations.
These clever little bags are more than just eye candy – they’re filled with sweet and savory treats that are layered to look like a real pencil! Think: chocolate chips for the “graphite,” bright orange Goldfish crackers for the classic pencil coating, and a pink “eraser” made from Starburst candy.
Not only are these Pencil Snack Bags a breeze to assemble, but they’re guaranteed to put a smile on every kid’s face. What a fun way to kick off the new school year!

- Pink Starburst Candies, wrapped (I linked to Amazon where you can buy bags of all-pink Starburst!)
- Hershey’s Kisses, wrapped
- Goldfish Crackers
- Mini Marshmallows
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- Cone-shaped Cellophane Treat Bag (We used the 10” by 5” size)
- Pink Curling Ribbon (cut into 12-inch strips)
- Scissors
Here’s how many of each snack item you’ll need per bag:
- 9 Pink Starbursts
- 7 Chocolate Kisses
- 1/3 Cup Goldfish Crackers
- 4 Mini Marshmallows
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Add the chocolate chips to the bottom of the treat bag. Shake bag so they settle into the tip and fill up the space.
- Add the mini marshmallows, then layer the goldfish crackers on top. After adding each layer, wiggle the bag so everything settles.
- Place the Hershey Kisses on top of the goldfish, then the pink Starburst candies.
- Gather the treat bag in just above the Starbursts and tie it with pink curling ribbon to secure. Use scissors to curl the ends of the ribbon.
Prep Tips
- Storage – You can make these treat bags up to a week ahead of time (after that the snacks will start to get stale). Keep at room temperature, away from heat or light.
- Bags – We used 10” by 5” size plastic cone-shaped treat bags. If you use bigger treat bags, you’ll either need to add more of each of the ingredients or you can simply trim the extra plastic from the top of the bag after you tie it up. Totally up to you!
- Ribbon – Be sure to use curling ribbon to get the same look as our bags. I do not recommend curling the ribbon before tying the knot around the bag, as the curls may get stretched out while you tie.
