Bloody Syringe Jello Shots

They sound gross….but don’t they actually look pretty cool?!

These jello shots are bright red (obviously no real blood involved) and super fruity! They’re easy to make with only 3 ingredients and way more fun than your usual party drink!

If you’re planning a Halloween party this year, or even if you’re staying close to home, these “bloody syringes” are a clever and eye-catching grown-up treat!

TIP: If the “bloody syringe” look isn’t your thing, you can always use another color/flavor of Jello! Green or purple would be fabulous for Halloween too! Think: “monster blood”

💉 How to Make Syringe Jello Shots

First, you’ll need to boil one cup of water.

Note: After this step, our directions will differ from the directions on the back of your gelatin box. Do not follow the package directions, which call for adding cold water. We will be adding rum instead!

Once the water is boiling, stir in the pack of Jello until fully dissolved, about 2 minutes.

Now, stir in the rum until mixed.

While the Jello mixture is still liquid, insert the tip of a syringe into the liquid and pull up slowly on the plunger, so that the syringe is filled with red Jello. Repeat until all syringes are filled.

Place the syringes in a bowl or on a tray and into the fridge to chill. It should take about 3 hours for them to set.

This recipe should make about 48 jello shot syringes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Kind of Syringes Do You Use for Jello Shots?

There are actually syringes made specifically for drink and dessert recipes! The most important thing you want to look for is that the product is marked as “food safe” or “food grade.”

We made our Halloween Jello Shots with these jello shot syringes found on Amazon. They are made from BPA-free food safe plastic. We used 1.5oz syringes, which is a standard size for a shot. There are also jumbo size 2oz syringes available too.

Can You Reuse Jello Shot Syringes?

Yes! As long as you clean thoroughly, they can be used again and again to try other recipes!

To clean jello shot syringes, use a fine bristle brush to get into the nooks and crannies. I have this bottle/straw brush cleaning set at home and I love it!

The plastic syringes we bought say that they are dishwasher safe, though I prefer to hand wash so they will last longer. (Sometimes our dishwasher gets hot enough to melt plastics!)

Without knowing your web browser and settings, I’m not sure what the exact issue would be. If you have a pop-up blocker, it may stop the print dialog window from opening.
