Chocolate Covered Soccer Oreos

Jennifer at Sugar Spice & Glitter shares this fun and festive dessert:

We recently made these Soccer ball-style Oreos for our end-of-season Simple & Easy Soccer party. They are a quick and easy treat that makes a big statement and would also make a great grab-bag item.

They are also a great homemade gift for the soccer fan in your life – just like how we made these Chocolate-covered Golf Ball Oreos for my stepdad’s Father’s Day gift. I love that they are so simple that the kids can make them without too much help.

We decided to dip half of the Oreos in white chocolate and simply top the others with the decorative candy. We also used white to keep things simple, but a green candy melt would be cool and look like the green of the soccer field!

You can use this technique to make just about any themed Oreo that you can think of – it’s a great simple treat to have in your party planning repertoire.

Celebrate your little fútbol star with this easy and thrifty soccer birthday party! (Food, supplies, and party favors for $50 or less!)

These Soccer Oreos would also be perfect for a soccer themed birthday! Click here to see how we created an entire Kids Soccer Birthday Party for under $50!

What you need to make chocolate covered soccer Oreos:

  • 12+ Oreos
  • 1 cup Wilton bright white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 1 package soccer cake candies
  • 2 Tablespoons shortening
  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 fork or dipping tool
  • 1 cookie sheet lined with parchment or silicone baking mat

Preparation Tips

Place the candy melts and shortening in a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl. If melting in the microwave, heat in 20 second intervals, stirring between intervals until the candy melts are smooth and no lumps remain.

Using a fork to dip the Oreo into the melted white chocolate, turning until completely coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl before setting Oreos on a baking sheet to dry.

While the chocolate or candy coating is still wet, place the soccer candy in the center of the Oreo. Repeat with half of the remaining Oreos. Set in the fridge for 1 hour to fully dry.

With the Oreos that you are leaving plain, just dab a bit of chocolate to the back of the candies to attach them to the Oreos.
