“Electric Smurf” Cocktail

Named for its fabulous bright blue color, the Electric Smurf cocktail is a tasty combination of tropical fruit and coconut flavors. There’s also a dash of citrus to keep things interesting!

You may also see it called the “Smurfette” depending on where you go. This is a popular drink that you could probably ask your favorite bartender to make and they’ll know exactly what you’re talking about!

With just a few simple ingredients this drink recipe is about as easy as it gets! Citrus, pineapple, coconut, and lemon come together to make a refreshing punch! These bright blue drinks are so delicious that you almost can’t taste the booze, so be careful, they can sneak up on you!

I would describe this fun electric Smurf drink as a blue popsicle, in a glass! It’s a refreshing grown-up treat that’s perfect for sipping poolside, or dreaming of a tropical vacay! And can’t we all use a little vacation?! Cheers to that!

Frequently Asked Questions

What Does Blue Curaçao Taste Like?

Blue Curacao is a citrus flavored liquor, similar in taste to Triple Sec. Traditionally, Blue Curacao was made from the dried Laraha citrus fruit (also called the Curaçao orange) grown on the island of Curaçao. The blue color is simply from blue food dye.

Can You Make This a Frozen Drink?

Absolutely! This drink is delicious as a frozen cocktail, with the consistency of a frozen margarita. This also makes it easy to make a large batch if you’re serving a crowd.

I would suggest quadrupling the liquid ingredient amounts. Add them to a blender with one cup ice to start. (You can add more ice if needed).

Again, there are no exact amounts for the ice, you just want enough ice to make it the consistency you like. You can always adjust after blending. The same goes for the pineapple juice.

You can also freeze lemonade instead of water — the lemonade will act like ice does and freeze the drink, but not water it down. If doing this, you can skip adding lemon juice separately.

Blend everything until it is smooth and icy, with no large chunks. You want it to be drinkable and easy to sip, but not totally liquid-y.

Top with a couple of tropical drink umbrellas for a festive touch!
