Kids Felt Craft Monsters

I especially love this activity because only simple craft supplies are needed! And aside from the felt and poster board, you can use pretty much any decorations your choose (or have on hand!)

Supplies Needed:

  • poster board
  • craft felt (various colors)
  • scissors
  • pen & black sharpie marker
  • white school glue or hot glue
  • googly eyes
  • pom poms
  • pipe cleaners

How to Make “Friendly Monsters” Felt Dolls

STEP ONE: Print your monster templates using the free printable patterns available below. Trace printed monster patterns onto pasteboard and cut out. (Some printers may be able to print directly onto poster board, but if in doubt, print on regular paper and trace to poster board.)

To get access to my free printable library, enter your email address in the form below:

STEP TWO: Use the same printed monster patterns to trace the shapes onto craft felt. Cut out your felt monster shapes.

STEP THREE: Glue felt monsters onto the poster board monsters you cut out. This will give your monsters stability and make them more durable. You can use white school glue or hot glue for this.

TIP: Felt-covered foam board can also be used to create your monsters in fewer steps. We love this stuff for crafting!

STEP FOUR: It’s time to bring your felt craft monsters to life! Cut an oval shape out of flesh toned felt and glue onto the monster. Add poster board teeth. You can add fangs, buck teeth, sharp scary teeth etc. Start adding additional features such as googly eyes or stripes on the horns. Use a black sharpie marker to draw eyes and nose. This is the part where your kids can really let their creative juices flow!
