Must-Have Girls Backpack Trends for 2018

"Soccer Mom Style" and Fashion Tips for Moms

This post is sponsored by Babbleboxx on behalf of Justice. — Keep reading to see the girls backpack trends for 2018 that your daughter will love!

You're guaranteed to be the "cool" parent when you know all the girls backpack trends for 2018 that your daughter will love!

Do you remember any of the backpacks you carried during your school days?

I felt like a trendsetter in junior high, hauling a utilitarian book bag with a thick rubber tire tread on the bottom. This was in the days of super-flared jeans and chunky platform sneakers mind you — oh the 90s!

As cool as I thought my backpack was, it’s nothing compared to all the options tween and teen girls have today!

Reversible mermaid sequins, pom-poms, and matching accessories — oh my!

Calling All Unicorns!

My husband and I were in Justice recently doing some birthday shopping for our oldest daughter and couldn’t believe all of the different backpacks they had to choose from. Fortunately, Justice made it easy for us by sending a complete set: the Unicorn Flip Sequin Backpack with matching lunch tote, sleeved water bottle, pencil case, and wristlet.

When our daughter unboxed this set, her eyes grew wide as saucers. I believe the word “awesome” was thrown around quite a bit.

The Unicorn Flip Sequin Backpack and accessories features many of the hottest girls backpack trends for 2018. Take notes and you’re guaranteed to be the “cool” parent this year!

Must-Have Girls Backpack Trends for 2018

Here’s what to look for when it’s time to go shopping for back to school gear:

1. Reversible Mermaid Sequins

Sequins alone are always a hit, but “mermaid” sequins take this trend to the next level! With a slide of the hand, you can change the entire look of your backpack, from gold to pearl.

This is also a soothing stress reliever, just like the mermaid pillows that took the world by storm last year.

2. Animal Ears

The first thing our daughter noticed about her new backpack were the unicorn ears and horn on top — we both agreed that this was our favorite part of the design.

Other girls backpacks at Justice feature similar details that make them stand out from the crowd.

3. Huge Pom-Poms

This trend made its debut last year, but might be bigger than ever this year! Soft, fluffy, and furry pom-poms are a spunky touch that are guaranteed to make a statement.

I love seeing my daughter come into her own as a tween, developing her own style and self-confidence. Justice gives her so many choices to express herself!

4. Coordinated Sets

Remember the days when your lunchbox and backpack and pencil case all came from separate places and often featured different characters and patterns? Well, that’s not how it works these days!

One good thing about matching sets is that it’s nearly impossible for your child’s backpack or lunchbox to get lost in the shuffle at school. Even if they get separated, it’s easy to see that they belong together.

5. Personalization

There’s also no mistaking who a bag belongs too when it’s personalized! While our unicorn backpack does not have this option, Justice offers LOTS of other backpacks, luncboxes, journals, water bottles, and more that feature big, bold letters so your tween can pick their initial.

While we were at Justice, we did pick up an adorable light-up journal with our daughter’s initial. She totally loved it!

6. Durability

Does quality ever really go out of style?

Of course not! However, not all backpacks are created equal! Some of our previous backpacks didn’t even make it the entire school year. Kids are tough on their stuff, but I definitely expect a book bag to make it for at least 9 months!

Justice girls backpacks are designed not only to be super cute, but functional too, featuring:

  • Padded straps for comfort when carrying heavy loads (I’m always amazed by how much stuff my daughter crams in her bag!)
  • Side pockets just the right size for a matching water bottle
  • Roomy interior that can hold plenty of books, supplies, and a lunchbox
  • Handy front pockets for extra storage

Justice backpack sets are so fun and well-built that you might just be able to get another year out of them…until we see all the fun trends they bring out in 2019!

Justice girls graphic tees

Our Favorite Back to School Trends for Tweens in 2018

In addition to bold backpacks and coordinated sets, we’re loving bright and spunky graphic tees.

Just like last year, graphic tees are going to be big in 2018 for back to school. I love how graphic tees allow kids to express their personal style with cute cartoons and positive messages. This is one girls clothing trend that I hope sticks around for years to come!

Here’s a closer look at the graphic tee Justice sent us:
