My King of Christmas Tree Review
Considering a King of Christmas artificial tree? My review breaks down everything you need to know before you buy!

Is a King of Christmas Tree Worth It?
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going Christmas tree shopping with my family. Even though I love natural Christmas trees, they’ve gotten really expensive over the past few years. We’ve also had a drought in our area, so that has affected the selection of real trees.
When King of Christmas reached out to me about reviewing one of their artificial Christmas trees, I was ecstatic…I’d been admiring them for years!
The first time I saw a King of Christmas tree, I was in love. They are the most beautiful, realistic looking artificial trees!
This is how I look at it: a King of Christmas tree is an investment. However, the last time we went natural tree shopping, the tree were anywhere from $75-250 each. You’ll end up spending much more on natural trees over the years.
This post is my honest review of King of Christmas artificial trees – I hope you find it helpful!
What’s Included With Your King of Christmas Tree?
Your King of Christmas tree will arrive in 1-2 large boxes, with everything you need inside to set it up:
- Sturdy metal tree stand
- Off-season storage bag (big enough to fit all of the tree sections!)
- Protective gloves for fluffing the tree
- Remote and foot pedal to control LED lights (for pre-lit trees)
- Instructions
I chose the 8′ King Flock® Artificial Christmas Tree with 900 with Warm White LED Lights.
Here’s what it looks like when set up, before decorating:
How I Decorated My Tree:
I’ve always wanted to create a farmhouse themed Christmas tree, and this was my chance! I envisioned the flocked branches as the perfect backdrop to shiny ornaments in classic Christmas colors of red and green. I also wanted to incorporate wood and natural elements, which I did with a garland of large wooded beads.
Finally, the really fun part was picking out a handful of themed ornaments to accompany the ones I already have at home. Cowboy hats, horses, and chickens, oh my! I absolutely love how it turned out and the ornaments really pop against the snowy branches.

Is It Easy To Set Up A King Of Christmas Tree?
This is my first artificial tree that I’ve ever set up myself, but it was surprisingly simple!
The tree arrives in 3-4 sections (mine had 4 sections).
First, you set up the base and place it where you want your tree to sit.
Then you place the bottom section (labeled ‘A’) into the base. The poles click together easily! Repeat with each subsequent section until the entire tree is stacked and secure. This part only took about 5 minutes.
Once the tree is fully assembled, you’ll want to make sure that all of the branches are in their folded down position. Use the protective gloves while you fluff (shape) your tree to your style and to make it look as realistic as possible. For me, the fluffing process took about 1 hour. Since this was my first time, I think it will probably be quicker next year.
How Do The Lights Work?
I chose a tree with Power Pole technology, meaning that when you stack the tree sections and click the center poles in place, the lights will be connected too.
That means you don’t need to look for cords or plugs to connect the lights. They automatically connect when you build the tree. It doesn’t get any easier than that!
Since I don’t have personal experience with a tree that doesn’t have a power pole, I’ll refer to the King of Christmas website: “For trees without the Power Pole, each of its sections’ wires must be connected to one another. Trees which include the power pole, already have these wires connected.”
If you’re looking for a pre-lit artificial tree, the Power Pole makes setting up the lights a total breeze! That is my favorite part of the tree – the easy setup!
Operating the lights is also easy! There is a foot pedal attached to the cord, as well as a remote that allow you to switch among 8 different light settings. You can also use the remote control to dim or brighten the lights.
How Long Do The King of Christmas Lights Last?
King of Christmas trees use LED lights, which are brighter and more efficient than incandescent bulbs. King of Christmas LED lights are energy efficient and have a life expectancy of up to 25,000 hours.
But just in case, if any light does go out, the rest of the tree will stay lit. I also learned that the lights are hand strung to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the brand, so the wires are less visible. Just another way I noticed the commitment to quality and realism.
Before You Buy:
Here are a few things to consider when choosing which of the King of Christmas artificial trees is right for you.
- Size – King of Christmas trees are true-to-size, meaning that an 8-foot tree will stand 8 feet tall, from the bottom of the stand, to the tip of the tallest branch on top of the tree. Before you buy, I highly recommend getting out a measuring tape to ensure that you select the perfect size tree for your space. My King of Christmas tree seemed so much taller than any natural 8-foot tree that we’ve had before, so I’m thinking that those natural trees were smaller than advertised! I’m glad I measured or I would have underestimated the size of my tree.
- Lit vs. Unlit – One of my favorite things about my new King of Christmas tree is the fact that it is pre-lit and I no longer have to string lights on a tree myself. It used to take forever! However, if you enjoy switching up your lighting and decorations every year or two, then you may want to get an unlit tree so it is a blank canvas.
- Flocked or Not – Flocking is a decorative technique that gives an artificial tree a snowy, frosted appearance by applying a fine, fluffy material called flocking to the branches. I love flocking because it adds a touch of winter magic and a snowy vibe. However, there is also something so nostalgic about a classic green tree, and there are plenty of gorgeous options available at King of Christmas to match any decor.
- Budget – There are over 100 different tree options at a wide range of price points, as well as wreaths and garlands, available at KingOfChristmas.com. TIP: King of Christmas usually has fabulous sales and deals, so be sure to check back often!
