Patriotic Punch Mocktail
This red white and blue layered Patriotic Punch is the perfect family-friendly drink to celebrate the 4th of July! Only 3 ingredients needed!
4th of July Punch
This is a pretty and patriotic drink that the whole family can enjoy!
A layered red white and blue drink made with simple, non-alcoholic ingredients. It’s fruity and refreshing and is guaranteed to get “ooohs and ahhs” when you serve it!
Even though the layers look like they might be tricky to make, this is actually a very easy recipe…no mixing or special tools needed! You can whip up a batch for everyone in just a few minutes!
Kids will love having a special drink of their own and they can even help decorate with fancy straws and other decorations. Large cake toppers and wands work well for this!

Ingredients
Only 3 ingredients needed!
- Grenadine
- Blue Sports Drink
- Pina Colada Flavored Juice or Coconut Water
You might notice that there are no exact measurements for the ingredients, and that is because you can’t really mess up this drink! You’ll be using about equal parts of each (though I usually use a bit less grenadine than the other layers because it is very sweet).
Decorating Ideas
For your convenience in re-creating this recipe, Iโve provided shop-able ad links to some of the products used; disclosure policy availableย here.
- Red White & Blue Drinking Straws
- Patriotic Wand Craft Kit (to make decorations similar to the ones we used)
Instructions
- Pour grenadine into the bottom of the glass, until about 1/2″ deep.
- Fill glass to the top with ice cubes.
- Slowly pour coconut water down the side of the glass, so that it layers on top of the grenadine. A little mixing is normal, but the grenadine will mostly stay on the bottom of the glass. Stop pouring when your glass is about 2/3 of the way full.
- Top the rest of the way with blue sports drink, again, pouring slowly so that the layers mix as little as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Make This Into a Cocktail?
Sure! This recipe can easily be modified to be a grown-ups only drink. My recommendation would be to use either vodka or rum as the liquor, because they are both clear and fairly mild in flavor.
For example, coconut rum would mix well with the coconut water or piรฑa colada layer. Blue raspberry vodka would mix perfectly with the blue sports drink. Just a couple ideas!
How Do I Keep the Layers from Mixing?
Because the density of the liquids varies, they will naturally stay separate for a bit on their own. However, as you’re carrying and drinking it, the layers will begin to blend, and that’s totally normal! The flavors of this drink only taste better when they mix!
When preparing the drinks, the best way to keep the layers from mixing is to go slowly. You can also use the back of a spoon to help the liquid layer. Flip the spoon so the bottom side faces up and press the edge of the spoon against the inside of the glass. Pour the liquids on top of the curved spoon and they will trickle into the glass slowly and layer nicely.
