One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to customize. You can mix in holiday sprinkles, candies, or mini marshmallows (which look like ornaments), then tie each tree with a festive ribbon or bow for the finishing touch. Add a candy star or chocolate kiss to the top, and you’ve got an adorable, edible gift that’s almost too cute to eat!

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chocolate – Melt the green wafers in a large microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20 second increments, stirring between, until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Coat the Popcorn – Add the popped and cooled popcorn to the melted chocolate and stir until coated. Spread on a lined baking sheet to dry.
  3. Fill Bags – Add a couple M&Ms to the bag first, so they will fill in the part that is too narrow for popcorn. Scoop the green popcorn into the bag, leaving some space so you can tie it. Add sprinkles.
  4. Finish – Tie the bags with a Chrismas ribbon to secure. Place a gold star sticker at the tip of the bag, like a tree topper.

Prep Tips

  • Storage – Once prepared, these popcorn bags will stay fresh for up to a week. It may help to keep them fresher longer by placing the individual bags inside an airtight container until you’re ready to enjoy or gift them.
  • Chocolate – Green candy melts can be using in place of green chocolate melting wafers. You could also use melted white chocolate and stir in a few drops of green food coloring.
