Prep Tips
- Egg Whites – You’ll get the best foam by using regular egg whites, and they are generally considered safe to use for this purpose. However, there is a small risk of salmonella contamination in raw egg whites, so you may opt to use pasteurized egg whites instead. They should still make a foam, though it may not be quite as fluffy as you can get from unpasteurized eggs. Another alternative is to use whipped cream and skip the egg whites altogether.
- Liquor – This is a light cocktail, with Blue Curacao being the only type of liqueur used, however you could add vodka or rum to this if you like. I would recommend mixing to the lemon lime soda before adding to the drink.
- Make it a Mocktail – This is an easy drink to make non-alcoholic by swapping out the Blue Curacao with either a blue sports drink or blue juice drink. See more 4th of July mocktail recipes here!
