Three Simple Tips to Achieve That “New Mommy Glow”

Self Care for Moms

These three tips to achieve a “New Mommy Glow” are part of a shop that has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. However, all opinions are 100% mine.

When you’re pregnant, you’ll likely be told more than a few times that you’re positively “glowing,” and it’s true, my skin never looked better than when I was expecting! However, after I had the baby was another story — my skin was all over the place!

It took some trial and error figuring out what works best, but I’ve finally found a routine that helps my skin to look and feel soft and luxurious. Here are my top three tips for achieving that “new mommy glow.”

Drink LOTS of Water

And when you think you’ve had plenty, drink another glass! Especially if you are nursing, it is much easier to become dehydrated postpartum. Not only does dehydration make you feel less than your best, it shows on your skin. The recommended eight glasses a day should be your new minimum! I make a point of having a glass of water by my side at all times so I’m constantly hydrating.

Hydrate from the inside out

Water is the best way to hydrate from the inside out, but there are a couple other tricks I use to give my skin an extra glow. First, I make sure to take a multivitamin every day as well as a fish oil supplement. I consider myself a healthy eater, but I like to make sure I’m not missing anything (or losing too much while nursing). I also add a spoonful of coconut oil to my daily cup of espresso — it’s called a “superfood” for a reason!

Switch up your moisturizing routine

With my skin now prone to dryness, the products I used previously no longer did the job. I’ve been doing a little research and had recently heard about new Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer, which is designed to “lock in hydration at skin’s peak moisture moment.” My curiosity was piqued — I had to try it out. It was very easy to find at Target in a special display in the pharmacy section:

It really was that easy, and I was surprised just how soft and hydrated my skin felt! Even better, it cut down the time I spent getting ready, so that was an unexpected bonus!

They both smell fabulous, so I alternate between them.

I never thought of adding coconut oil to my espresso! What a great tip – and something new for me to try! I love this product, especially for moms! I’m time-pressed for a shower as is, now I can moisturize properly with the wet skin application #client
